‘NEWS LETTER’

Dear Member / Property Owner,

Following on from the ‘The Golf Course Superintendents News Letter’ sent to you in May which was designed to keep you up to date with all of the important maintenance procedures which were scheduled to take place on The Indiana Course in June, we are pleased to be able to give you an update on the works carried out and to inform you of the schedule of works which shall take place in July 2012.

JUNE COURSE MAINTENANCE UPDATE

Fungicide Spraying

The preventative application of fungicides to help safeguard and protect the course against strong summer turf grass diseases has been completed as per the schedule. The monthly spray program will be ongoing throughout the summer months.

 Hand Watering

The programme of hand watering the greens and tees commenced as per the schedule.

Hydro Jet Greens

The schedule of Hydro-Jetting the green has commenced. The remaining holes will be hydro-jetted in July.

JULY COURSE MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME

Fungicide Spraying

The preventative fungicide spraying program of all grass areas will continue in July. This safeguard helps protect the course against strong summer turf grass diseases. Signs will be placed on fairway 1, green surround 1 and fairway 9 to remind all players that spraying is in progress. The reception staff will also advise players before play when spraying is in progress. Please remember to wash your hands after play.

Hand Watering

Throughout the summer months hand watering of the greens and tees will take place. Please be advised that this is an essential part of summer maintenance. Hand watering cannot be stopped during play for this reason.

Hydro Jet Greens

The greens will be aerified with the “Hydro Jet” machine. This system of aeration creates small pin sized air holes in the green by the use of high pressure water, reducing soil compaction and improving water and air movement throughout the soil profile. There will be no adverse effect to the quality of the green playing surface during this time.

Unión Deportiva Almeria Football Training Camp at Desert Springs

For second consecutive year, Almeria Football Club has selected the Desert Spring Resort for their pre season training camp, scheduled to take place between Monday 23rd July to Friday 3rd August. It is a great achievement to secure such a high profile team at the resort and is testament to the quality of both the playing surface of the Resort´s football pitch and its facilities. The football pitch will be closed during this time with restricted opening times from the 16th July for maintenance preparation. The teams training sessions will be open to the public for spectator viewing. Please ask the club house reception for details.
