The Rowse Academy complete successful Pre-Season Training Camp at Desert Springs Cricket Academy

   

The Rowse Academy Cricket players are now back in England having completed a successful five (5) days of warm weather pre-season cricket and fitness training between Sunday 8th and Friday 13th April at Desert Springs Resort, Europe’s only international award-winning luxury family resort and championship desert golf course with its very own dedicated Cricket Ground and Academy, in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía in south-east Spain.

Rowse Academy Cricket Coaches Andy Rowsell and Bob Wincer accompanied Twenty-Seven (27) players who completed bowling, batting and fielding practice as well as strength and conditioning training sessions and competitive matches on the new cricket ground, as they stepped up their physical preparations for the upcoming 2018 season.

Rowse Academy Cricket Coach, Andy Rowsell commented:

“Another fantastic visit. Thank you for your exceptional service levels and taking care of our every need. We very much look forward to returning in 2019!”

The squad also benefited from two (2) days use of the new Cricket Ground at Desert Springs, incorporating specific practice sessions involving; throw downs, slip catch training and fielding exercises as well as match simulations.

Two fixtures for the Rowse Academy representatives to compete against the Charterhouse School XI who were also at the resort for their own pre-season preparations during the same period were also played, allowing for practice to be put into play!

The Rowse Academy set to return to Desert Springs Cricket Academy for Pre-Season Training Camp

   

Further to the success of their inaugural visit in 2017, The Rowse Academy, located in St. John’s College, York will be stepping up their preparations for their 2018 cricket campaign by attending a five (5) day pre-season training camp at the Desert Springs Cricket Academy between Sunday 8th – Friday 13th April.

Headed by Andy Rowsell, The Rowse Academy offers specialist help in the form of private tuition, video analysis, coaching workshops and advice on how to progress along the developmental pathway from club cricket to representative level. Workshops are specifically structured to help develop techniques in all areas of the game. At the higher levels, more emphasis is placed on performance and sessions focus very much on applying such techniques in tactical and mental scenario based work.

The Rowse Academy training camp will comprise Twenty-Seven (27) players accompanied by Two (2) coaches, all of whom will be spending their time completing numerous training sessions each day, which will include grass net practice, both bowling and batting and strength, running, speed and agility work at the Cricket Academy.

The squad will also benefit from 2-days use of the new Cricket Ground at Desert Springs, incorporating specific practice sessions involving; throw downs, slip catch training and fielding exercises as well as match simulations.

During their stay, there are also fixtures arranged for the Rowse Academy representatives to compete against the Charterhouse School XI who are also visiting the resort for their own pre-season preparations during the same period.

Andy Rowsell, an ECB Scout for the North Region, is currently working with Queen Ethelburga’s College in York, Harrogate CC and Scarborough and District Development Group providing coaching and performance workshops whilst also working with the ECB Performance team overseeing the North of England at U15 and U17 level.

Accommodation for the players and coaches is in some of the privately-owned apartments and pueblo villas at Desert Springs Resort normally reserved for holidays and short breaks and the resort’s executive chef will be on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the resort’s Crocodile Club Restaurant.

The Rowse Academy Cricket players are now back in England having completed a successful seven (7) days of warm weather pre-season cricket and fitness training between Saturday 8th – Saturday 15th April at Desert Springs Resort, Europe’s only international award-winning luxury family resort and championship desert golf course with its very own dedicated Cricket Academy, in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía in south-east Spain.

 

Rowse Academy Cricket Coach Andy Roswell, with three (3) additional coaches, Hayden Jackson, John Ward and Bob Wincer accompanied Twenty-Six (26) players who completed bowling, batting and fielding practice as well as strength and conditioning training sessions as they stepped up their physical preparations for the upcoming 2017 season.

The Rowse Academy Set To Visit Desert Springs For Pre-Season Warm Weather Cricket Training Camp

   

 

The Rowse Academy, located in St. John’s College, York will be stepping up their preparations for their 2017 cricket campaign by attending a seven (7) day pre-season training camp at the Desert Springs Cricket Academy between Saturday 8th – Saturday 15th April 2017.

At the higher levels more emphasis is placed on performance and sessions focus very much on applying such techniques in tactical and mental scenario based work.

The Rowse Academy has a number of centres established throughout the county with the intention of enhancing performance-based work and providing the option of pre-season tours to Spain.

Andy Roswell, an ECB Scout for the North Region, is currently working with Queen Ethelburga's College in York, Harrogate CC and Scarborough and District Development Group providing coaching and performance workshops whilst also working with the ECB Performance team overseeing the North of England at U15 and U17 level.

The Rowse Academy training camp will comprise Twenty-Six (26) players and Six (6) coaches, all of whom will be spending their time completing numerous training sessions each day, which will include grass net practice, both bowling and batting, strength work, running, speed and agility work. As they will be outside and on grass, the squad will also be able to do fielding and throwing practice in realistic conditions, something not possible indoors back in the UK.

Accommodation for the players and coaches is in some of the privately owned apartments at Desert Springs Resort normally reserved for holidays and short breaks and the resort’s executive chef will be on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the resort’s Crocodile Club Restaurant.
