APRIL COURSE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM

Hollow Coring Greens

As previously advised, please be reminded that the greens will be hollow cored on Monday 20th April and the practice area will be closed on Wednesday 22nd April until 4pm. The hollow coring of the greens is a maintenance practice which is scheduled each year to both maintain and enhance the playing quality of the putting surfaces with which we are accustomed at The Indiana. This practice creates the required environment for strong vigorous roots to grow, the very essence of golf course maintenance.

Bunker Renovation and Turfing

Many of the bunker edges, over time, have lost their definition and need rebuilding with new turf. White half moon metal stakes have been used to identify these areas throughout the golf course. During establishment, these areas will be roped off to help establishment of the new turf.

Hole 1 Landscaping Maintenance

The plumbagos (the blue flowering bushes) down the right hand side of hole one, will be pruned to help the plant regenerate new shoots, producing a healthier plant and new flowers. This heavy pruning will also allow us to assess the general landscaping design and gain access to prune other plants. No plants, unless dead are going to be removed. The pruning will greatly improve the aesthetics and appearance of the housing interface. The pruning will also expose seeds to sunlight, so we will actually gain plants. The pruning will also allow us to assess the population of the rabbits and remove them, therefore, the plants will be healthier after pruning, and the fairway quality will also improve.

In the knowledge that all Property Owners and Members need to have as much notice as possible concerning particular aspects of the golf course maintenance schedule that may temporarily effect the playing conditions of the green’s surface, thus enabling them to plan particular holidays accordingly, please see below the remaining hollow coring dates for 2015.
