ONE Pro Cycling

Between Thursday 3rd – Friday 18th December, Desert Springs was host to ONE Pro Cycling Team, Britain's only Pro Conti Team, which will compete in races throughout the world in 2016.

A total of twenty (20) riders and seventeen (17) staff visited Desert Springs for a two-week pre-season training camp, in which the team made use of the astonishing routes and roads, which surround the magnificent Almanzora region.

ONE Pro Cycling Team were accommodated in some of the privately owned villas and apartments at Desert Springs Resort, and the resort's executive chef was on hand to cater fir the special dietary requirements of team members dining each day at the 'Crocodile Club' Restaurant,

 

During their visit, the riders and the staff made use of the Sierra Sports Club and Gym for their specific work outs and stretching sessions, and during their downtime, the Golf Academy was a popular area in which riders and staff spent some quality time, allowing the new members of the team to know the rest of the squad.

 

Former England wicket keeper and ONE Pro Cycling CEO, Matt Prior, commented about their experience at Desert Springs:-

 

"Desert Springs has been the perfect location to hold our training camp ahead of the 2016 season.

Having spoken to a number of the England cricket team whi had been here before the Ashes I knew that Desert Springs would be exactly what we needed and it didn't dissapoint.

I'd like to thank Peter, Alfonso and all the team for making us feel so welcome and going out of their way to make sure the camp was a success."

 

36-year-old rider, Kristian House, remarked:-

"Desert Springs was the perfect location for our ONE Pro Training camp, with not only great facilities including a brilliant gym and well laid out apartments but also the roads surrounding the resort were absolutely amazing and perfect for all of our training needs."

 

28-year-old rider, Chris Opie, commented:-

"Desert Springs provided us with fantastic accommodation, great, well thought out nutrition in a relaxing location. Whilst staying here on what was a very tough camp the facilites enabled us to recover and relax as and when possible. I look forward to returning." 

After the Christmas period, ONE Pro Cycling will compete in an international schedule with their season commencing in New Zealand in January.

 

Already well known as a resort specialising in golf and family holidays, Desert Springs is gaining popularity as a Centre for warm-weather training for cricketers, footballers, triathletes and cyclists.
