Cycling
The area around Desert Springs offers superb conditions for road cycling and mountain biking, attracting riders of all levels. With quiet, well-maintained roads, a mild year-round climate, and routes ranging from coastal stretches to mountain climbs, it’s also a favourite training ground for professional teams. Off-road, an extensive network of trails winds through deserts, sierras, and the volcanic landscapes of Cabo de Gata. Whether you prefer a leisurely ride, a challenging workout, or an adventurous trail, our Resort Team can help plan your perfect route and arrange high-quality bike hire, including electric bikes, so you can simply turn up and ride.
Aqua Vera Water Park
Just 10–15 minutes from the Resort, AquaVera Water Park in Vera Playa is a family-friendly oasis of fun. Open from 1st May to 30th September (check times before visiting), it features over a dozen attractions, from thrilling slides and wave pools to relaxing pools, picnic areas, bars, and restaurants. Tickets are available at the Lodge Reception in the Clubhouse, so you can skip the queues and head straight to the water. Advance booking is recommended, especially in August.
Wakeboarding & Cable Skiing
Just 10–15 minutes from Desert Springs Resort at the Cuevas del Almanzora Dam, Luna Cable Park is Europe’s longest wakeboard cable park and a year-round hub for water adventures. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or a beginner, the friendly team will make your time on the water unforgettable. In addition to wakeboarding, you can enjoy stand-up paddleboarding, an inflatable floating adventure course, and other fun activities for all ages. Booking is recommended, and our Resort Team will be happy to assist with arrangements.
Horse Riding
Just 10 minutes from the Resort, Equestrian Club Vera is a welcoming riding centre offering activities for all ages and levels, from group classes and private lessons to scenic cross-country rides. With excellent facilities including a well-kept arena, guest changing rooms and ample parking, it’s the perfect place to connect with nature and enjoy Almería’s landscapes from the saddle.
Go Karting
Just 25 minutes from the Resort, Karting Garrucha offers an 850-metre desert circuit for an unforgettable day of high-speed fun. Open year-round except on rare rainy days, it welcomes drivers from age 14 and from age 10 with prior experience, with three kart types and the option of competitive races. A pioneer since 1987, Karting Garrucha guarantees adrenaline, excitement and memories on every lap. Booking is essential.
Fishing, Sailing & Powerboat Cruises
Just 20 minutes from the Resort at Garrucha Port, Sunshine Charters offers year-round Mediterranean cruises and fishing trips. From sunset cruises and coastal tours to family-friendly fishing adventures, you’ll enjoy fresh sea breezes, panoramic views, and unforgettable moments on the water. Booking in advance is essential.
Off-Road Polaris 4x4 Tours
Just 15 minutes from the Resort in Vera, Aventura Motor offers an exhilarating way to explore Almería’s wild landscapes from 1 June to 30 September. Drive a brand-new Polaris 4x4 through the Sierra Almagrera, tackling coastal tracks, dry riverbeds and mountain trails, with stops at scenic viewpoints to discover the hidden stories of the region. Perfect for adrenaline, adventure or a closer connection with nature, this off-road experience is an unforgettable day out with family or friends. Booking is essential, especially in August.
