Title: Germany National team complete succesful training camp at Desert Springs Resort

Fifteen (15) members of the German Men’s National Cricket Team accompanied by four (4) coaching staff are now back in Germany having completed a successful five (5) day training camp between Tuesday 7th – Sunday 12th September at Desert Springs Resort, Europe’s only international award-winning luxury family resort and championship desert golf course with its very own ICC accredited Cricket Ground, in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía in south-east Spain.

Asif Khan / German National Team Assistant Coach, remarked of Desert Springs Resort and the training camp;

“We enjoyed returning to Desert Springs and using the facilities which once again, were great. The academy practice wickets as well as the main pitch offered variety for all aspects of cricket. Nick, the groundsman, as well as the restaurant staff, along with the technicians went out of their way to cater for our requests. A big thank you to the Desert Springs team and we look forward to returning very soon!”

The focus of the training camp was to provide an opportunity for the players to both work seriously on their batting, bowling & fielding skills as well as their fitness levels, to ensure that the players are in the best possible shape leading up to their preparation for the forthcoming ICC Men’s T20 Europe World Cup Qualifiers to be held at Desert Springs Resort in October.

Grass net practice, both bowling and batting took place at the Cricket Academy. Out-field practice, match simulations, throw downs, strength and conditioning work, running, speed and agility work was completed at the Cricket Ground.

Brian Mantle, CEO of the German National Team commented of their training camp at Desert Springs Resort:

“Desert Springs Resort meets all of our cricketing needs for warm weather training and matches. The cricketing facilities are near perfect and the service exceptional, both at the cricket ground and in the Club House.”

Germany player Dylan Blignaut commented;

“Desert Springs Resort is a fantastic location and venue. The grounds are very well maintained and in great condition. The hospitality was awesome, and we really enjoyed our time here.”

The camp culminated in Germany competing against Spain in three T20i Matches which resulted in Spain winning the closely fought series two games to one.

The players and coaches were accommodated in some of the privately-owned Apartments and Townhouse at Desert Springs and the resort’s executive chef was on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in El Torrente Restaurant.

Fourteen (14) members of the German Men’s National Cricket Team accompanied by four (4) coaching staff are now back in Germany having completed a successful four (4) day training camp between Thursday 5th – Monday 9th March at Desert Springs Resort, Europe’s only international award-winning luxury family resort and championship desert golf course with its very own dedicated Cricket Ground and Academy, in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía in south-east Spain.

Siva Subramanian / German National Team Manager, remarked of Desert Springs Resort and the training camp;

“The facilities for cricket at Desert Springs Resort are truly outstanding at both the training ground and match ground. The pavilion is an excellent resource as well. Very friendly staff everywhere including the ground staff, the sports services managers and all the restaurant and reception staff. Will strongly recommend coming back here (or rather insist!) for more pre-season preparation.”

Germany players Michael Richardson and Hamid Wardak commented respectively;

 “The standard of the net wickets was especially impressive. We thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality. The apartments and food are fantastic. The proximity of everything makes a training camp very “doable”. Thanks for having us.”

“The cricket facilities and hospitality were fantastic. The food options, allowing for a range of religions and dietary needs were spot on and phenomenal.”

The camp culminated in a training game against Sharks CC from London which they won followed by 2 x T20i matches against Spain that had World Cup ranking points at stake, ending in a 1-1 draw.

Title: Germany National Team Set To Visit Desert Springs for Pre-Season Warm Weather Cricket Training Camp

Following a visit to Desert Springs Resort by Germany Cricket’s General Manager, Brian Mantle, we are delighted to announce that between Thursday 5th – Monday 9th March, fourteen (14) members of the German National squad accompanied by five (5) coaching staff will complete an intensive 4-day training camp at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground & Academy.

The players and coaches will take full advantage of being able to train on first-class grass training surfaces outside before the European season starts with the camp culminating in a training game against Sharks CC from London followed by 2 x T20i matches against Spain that will have World Cup ranking points at stake.

Germany played their first Twenty20 Internationals in May 2019, when they travelled to Brussels for three matches against Belgium, and then two matches against Italy in the Netherlands later the same month. These matches and the forthcoming training camp will provide the team with preparation ahead of the ICC World T20 European regional qualifier finals to be played in June.

The players and coaches will be spending their time completing a specific and carefully planned programme of numerous training sessions each day covering technical skills, fielding drills, bowling and batting, strength and conditioning and both individual and group activity.
