NEW YEARS EVE MIXED PAIRS TOURNAMENT: 31/12/08

Desert Springs hosted on the last day of the year the final tournament for the 2008 season on the 31st December.

A total of 16 pairs joined in this mixed team competition. The winners of this tournament were Lynne and Paul Taylor with 39 points, followed by Wikkie de Graaf and Freddie Beames and Elaine and Kris Gray, both teams with 35 points.

The prize presentation was hosted by Desert Springs Competitions Committee Member Philip Lockyer at the Club House.

 

CHRISTMAS PAIRS: 28/12/08

Following the Boxing Day tournament, Desert Springs hosted the Christmas Pairs Better Ball Tournament, 8 teams entered the event. After a challenging test on the Indiana Golf Course, the victorious father and son team of Steve and Kris Gray achieved a total score of 39 points, followed by Wikkie de Graaf and Ray Charles, with 36. 4 teams tied for 3rd place with a total of 35 points with Patrick and Sue Wood winning outright 3rd after a count back.
Competition’s Committee Member Phil Lockyer hosted the prize presentation at the Club House.

 

BOXING DAY BETTER BALL STABLEFORD: 26/12/08

On the 26th December Desert Springs hosted the annual Boxing Day Better Ball Tournament. A total of 4 teams worked off the Christmas excess with a round of golf on the Indiana Course. The winners of the event were Wikkie de Graaf and Ray Charles, with 37 points and followed by Dennis Stafford and Freddie Beames, with 33, who tied with Judith and Martin McLellan, also with 33 points.
The prize presentation was hosted by Desert Springs Competitions Committee Member Wikkie de Graaf at the Clubhouse.

 

THE PRESIDENT’S CUP: 08/11/08

The President’s Cup was played over the Indiana Course at Desert Springs this weekend. The combination of a championship golf course at it’s best, perfect weather conditions and a competitive field of 30 players, set the scene for a great golfing contest!

Tony Kelly continued his current run of good form with a score of 40 points, his second win in an event which has been dominated by the Irish contingent. Pat Dunphy was runner-up with 35 points followed by John Dudley with 34 points.

The ladies´ prize was won by Helen Lavis with a score of 34, Catherine Chapman was in second place with 31 points and Marianne Manus came in third with 30 points.

Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive prizes were won by Ángel Campillo Buendía, John Dudley and Helen Lavis. The prize giving took place in the courtyard at the clubhouse and was followed by a prize draw sponsored by Clarins, marketing director Isabelle Picou, was on hand to present the prizes.

Another great club Trophy event at Desert Springs, enjoyed by all!

 

ALL SAINT’S DAY STABLEFORD: 25/10/08

On the 25th October 2008 Desert Springs hosted the All Saint’s Day Stableford. A good turn out of 31 players took part, as usual; the Indiana Course was in outstanding conditions for the event.

Scoring was very good and a total of 6 players tied for 3rd place with 36 points. Fergus Smyth took finally the third position on countback over Tom Kennedy, Susan Kenny, Pat Craig, Freddie Beames and Roger Butters. In second place, with 38 points, Daniel Tochón, who got his handicap cut from 5,1 to 4,7! The winner of the competition, with 39 points was
Sue Wood.

The prize presentation was hosted on the Deck at the Clubhouse by Club Vice Captain Barry Carver!

 

AUTUMN TROPHY: 24/10/08

A total of 28 golfers participated on the annual Autumn Trophy hosted at the Indiana Course at Desert Springs.

The great condition of the golf course and the beautiful weather helped the players to shoot some good scores - a total of 5 players scored more than 35 points!

The winner of the competition was Tony Kelly, with 41 points, and followed very closely by Martin McLellan with 40 points. Mike Thorpe came in 3rd place with 37 points.

Barry Carver hosted the prize presentation at the deck in the Clubhouse.

 

DESERT CLASSIC: 18 & 19/10/08

The 2008 Desert Classic tournament attracted a strong field 32 players. This event is a 36 hole stableford competition, played over 2 days, with the winner being the player with the best 2 day aggregate score.

The competition was very close with many good scores over the 2 days. Mike Thorpe was the eventual winner with 77 points, a great performance by Mike playing off 8 handicap. There was a tie for second place between David Mathewson and Tony Kelly, both with 75 points.

Sue Garrod won the ladies event with 69 points after a fine second round of 33 points, followed by Susan Kenny, with 68, and Helen Lavis with 64.

Good weather and superb course conditions helped the players to achieve some good scores.

The prize presentation was held at the Patio Andaluz, hosted by Desert Springs Competition Committee Member Wikkie de Graaf and Past Captain Helen Lavis.

 

THE CONSTITUTION CUP: 10/10/08

On a beautiful sunny day, Desert Springs hosted the Constitution Cup. The Indiana Course was ready to receive all the players that wanted to challenge its layout. A total of 11 players competed this year. Helen Lavis managed to take the win on the Ladies side with 97 shots, while Terry Betts came victorious on the Men’s side with a fantastic score of 81 shots. Wikkie de Graaf and Terry Betts won the Salver Trophies with 83 and 75 shots respectively. The prize presentation was held at the Deck in the Club Clubhouse and was hosted by Club Vice Captain Barry Carver.

 

THE LIFESTYLE INSURANCE TROPHY: 04/10/08

This year, the World Animal Day fell on the 4th October. To commemorate the event, PAWS (PATAS) Charity organised a golf tournament to raise funds for their Charity.
Rex Dobson from Lifestyle Insurance was the main sponsor providing the Trophy and prizes for the winners.

A total of 37 players took part in an Individual Stableford tournament, in support of PAWS.

The winner of the event was Juan Pedro Alonso Salmerón, with 41 points. In addition to his victory, Juan Pedro got a Hole in One on the 2nd Hole with a 6 iron! Second was Mike Duckham with 37 points, followed by David Moxham with 36 points.

All the players commented on the great conditions of the Indiana Course and the great weather - typical at Desert Springs.

The prize presentation was hosted by Lifestyle Insurance Manager, Rex Dobson, and Desert Springs Assistant Director of Golf Alfonso Castiñeira.

 

DESERT SPRINGS vs REDBOURN RYDER CUP MATCHES 2008 3-4/10/08

Desert Springs welcomed back our friends from Redbourn Golf Club to play the Annual Ryder Cup match.

The teams were made up of 12 players who compete in a match play format over two days. On the first day, 6 pairs from each team play four ball better ball match play. The local team set up the early pace winning 5 of the possible 6 points, finishing the day with a strong 5-1 for Desert Springs.

On the second round, the format was Individual Match Play, so 12 points were available and the victory could go either way. Redbourn strategy consisted on placing the lower handicaps towards the end to try to reach the 9 ½ points that would give them the win.
After day 1 scores, Desert Springs only needed 4 points to retain the cup, and 4 ½ points for the overall win.

The action started and the first points fell on the local team side, which gave the victory after the first 6 matches (4 wins and 2 halved), to reach 10 points. After the first half of the matches were finished, Redbourn and Desert Springs shared the rest of the points, 3 for each team, leaving a final score of 13 points for Desert Springs and 5 for Redbourn.

The final score does not reflect the fact that this year’s matches were very close, and in the end, any team could have taken the victory.

To end such an unforgettable weekend, the players from both teams attended a Presentation Dinner at El Torrente Restaurant. After the dinner, Desert Springs Director of Golf thanked both teams for their effort and support of the event and presented the Trophy to Desert Springs Team Captain Barry Carver. Barry congratulated all members of Desert Springs Team and thanked the players from Redbourn for coming out one more year to this annual event enjoyed everyone at our Club. After Barry’s final speech, Redbourn Team Captain James Busby wanted to congratulate the winning team and said a few words to thank all the efforts made by Desert Springs to make this event happen, and for this wonderful event, which brings two Clubs together and allows us to make new friendships and relationships.

 

SEPTEMBER GREENSOMES: 27/09/08

Four teams faced an unusual rainy day at Desert Springs, which made scoring quite difficult. Despite the rain, the players commented on the great condition of the course.

Teams competed on a greensome format, which requires a great effort from both members of the team, and played with 50% of their combined handicap.

After battling on the course, Paul and Lynne Taylor won through with a total of 40 points, followed by Freddie Beames and Wikkie de Graaf, who finished with 35 points.

The prize presentation was held at the Clubhouse and hosted by Assistant Director of Golf Alfonso Castiñeira.

 

SEPTEMBER STABLEFORD: 20/09/08

On September 20th 2008 Desert Springs hosted the September Stableford. The sunny weather and the great conditions of the Indiana course allowed the players to show their best skills.

A total of 9 men and 6 ladies entered this competition, totalling15 players. The winner of the competition was Lynne Taylor, with 34 points, followed by Roger Butters, with 33 points. John Rosenthal came in 3rd with 32 points.

The prize presentation was held at the deck, in the clubhouse, and hosted by Helen Lavis.

 

SUMMER CHALLENGE CUP: 11/08/08

Desert Springs hosted the Summer Challenge Cup, one of the club’s annual trophies, 16 competitors entered the event which was an individual stableford competition.

The sunny weather and the outstanding conditions of the Indiana course helped all the players to post some good scores on the board. However, Reegan Botham returned a strong 39 points, which could not be beaten by anyone else in the field. Laurence Rentes was second with 37, and Aisling McCambridge was 3rd with 33 points.

The prize presentation was held at the Clubhouse hosted by Desert Springs Competitions Committee Member Philip Lockyer.

 

II CIRCUITO GOLFPLAYER: 27/07/08

On Sunday 27th July, Desert Springs hosted for the first time the II Circuito Golfplayer. This tour includes qualifying tournaments in 24 different courses around Spain, and the winners of each category will advance to the final in Golf del Sur, Tenerife.

The event was played as an individual stableford with full handicap and players were divided into 3 categories: 2 categories for men and 1 for ladies. The Indiana course was in superb conditions to welcome the players and the weather contributed to make an unforgettable golfing day.

Al players received before teeing off a gift pack offered by the the sponsors of the II Circuito Golfplayer.

After all the players finished their rounds, Golfplayer offered a cocktail at the Clubhouse, with massive attendance of the players. The ceremony was hosted by Alfonso Castiñeira (Desert Springs Assistant Director of Golf, Wikkie de Graaf (Competitions Committee Representative) Jorge Mowinckel (Director of Golf Player) y Sergio Hernández de la Torre (Assistant Director of Golf Player).

The winners of each category were:

1st Category: Blas Fernández with 35 points
2nd Category: Sergio Saavedra, with 39 points
Ladies Category: Elizabeth McCartney with 36 points
Scratch: Daniel Tochón with 35 points

 

PUBLINDAL Y SIBON FRUITS: 20/07/08

Desert Springs hosted for the first time the Publindal & Sibon Fruits Golf Tournament. Publindal, specialise in merchandising and promotional material, whilst Sibon Fruits, is one of the largest suppliers of fruit and vegetables in Almería. The event attracted an entry of 64, who once more, enjoyed the beautiful conditions and weather of the Indiana Course at Desert Springs.

After play, the prize presentation took place at the Clubhouse and the prizes were given to the many winners of the different categories: 
The scratch winner was Rory McCartney, with 32 points. 
On the 3rd category, Manuel Lorez Muñoz took the win with 36 points, followed by Francisco Lara Carrillo, with 33 and José Hernández García with 32. 
Gracian Mateo Giménez won the 2nd category with 42 points, followed by Manuel Camacho Bayo with 40 points and Javier Navarro Morales with 38. 
Finally, The winner of the 1st category was Sergio Lázaro Ruiz, tied with Rory McCartney, both with 39 points, but Sergio won on the countback. Alfonso Sánchez García was 3rd with 38 points.

The prize presentation was hosted by Desert Springs Assistant Director of Golf Alfonso Castiñeira and Sibon Fruits Director, Ginés González.

 

INTERCLUB TOURNAMENT: 28/06/08

On June 28th Desert Springs hosted the inaugural Interclub Championship, which involved teams from Almería, Murcia and Alicante. Teams were composed of 8 players playing a fourball better ball competition. The aggregate total of the 4 better ball scores represented the team total

It was a very tight battle between teams, Hacienda del Álamo eventual winners, while Desert Springs came in second position just one point behind.

The best pair was Joel Dehove and Ian McLean, with 43 points, followed by Juan Luis Saavedra and Manuel Ródenas with 42 points, Desert Springs members Roger Butters and Freddie Beames were 3rd with 41.

The prize presentation was held al the courtyard hosted by Desert Springs Assistant Director of Golf Alfonso Castiñeira.

 

El CORTE INGLÉS GOLF TOURNAMENT: 18/05/08

The prestigious Golf Circuit sponsored by El Corte Inglés selected the Indiana Course to host one of its local phase tournaments. The Circuito de Golf El Corte Inglés is a very well known tournament played in many courses in Spain, and the winner of the mens’ and ladies’ categories will compete as a team representing Desert Springs on 31st May 2008 in Antequera Golf, in Málaga. A total of 60 players competed to win the chance of representing Desert Springs on the next stage of the competition, and may be to compete nationally against the best players in the National phase of the circuit, to be held at Almenara Resort, in Sotogrande.

The winner on the men’s side was Bartolomé Sáez Castro, with an astonishing round of 45 points. On the ladies side, Tracy Vincent took the win with 38 points. Both Tracy and Bartolomé will play the Area Phase and will have the chance of playing the National Phase.

THE SPRING CUP: 17/05/08

On a beautiful sunny day, Desert Springs hosted the Spring Cup. The Indiana Course was ready to receive all the players that wanted to challenge its layout. A total of 12 players competed this year. Susan Kenny played brilliant golf to score 40 points, followed by Leo Kenny, with 32, and Roger Andrews with 31. The prize presentation was held at The Crocodile Club hosted by Club Competitions Committee Member Phil Lockyer.

 

COPA DESAFÍO LOCAL: 10/05/08

On its 3rd year, the Copa Desafío Local comprised 30 players representing their golf clubs or golf societies. Lorca, Badgers and Desert Springs were the teams that tried to win the trophy this year. The team with more stableford points on their best 7 scorecards would win.

For the first time since the inaugural Copa Desafío Local, Lorca Golf Society took the win after playing great golf. The match was very close among the three teams and only 5 points of difference between the winners and Desert Springs, who came in second place. Badgers Golf Society came I third place, also 5 points behind Desert Springs.

The prize presentation was held at the clubhouse and hosted by Desert Springs Assistant Director of Golf Alfonso Castiñeira.

 

OPEN PAIRS TOURNAMENT 03/05/08

A total of 14 teams entered this pairs tournament and enjoyed one more time the beautiful weather here at Desert Springs. This pairs better ball stableford competition was won by Susan Kenny and Leo Kenny, who scored 37 points and took the win by 1 point to Wikkie de Graaf and Freddie Beames, with 36. Francisco Javier Martínez de Lanuza and Lorena López Castañón closed the podium with 35 points. The prize presentation was held at the Deck at El Torrente restaurant and hosted by Club Competitions Committee Member Wikkie de Graaf...

 

MAY DAY STABLEFORD: 01/05/08

On 1st May 2008 Desert Springs Resort and Golf Club received a field of 19 players who competed on this holiday to win the May Day Stableford.

The Indiana Course was again in immaculate conditions, fact reflected on the brilliant scores achieved by the players.

In first position, Francisco Navarro with 39 points was the overall winner, followed by Susan Kenny, with 37, and Wikkie de Graaf with 35. The prize presentation was held at the Deck at El Torrente restaurant and hosted by Club Competitions Committee Member Wikkie de Graaf.

 

THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP AND HANDICAP SALVER 19 & 20/04/08

The most important tournament of the year took place at the Indiana Course during the 19th and 20th of April, on an individual Medal Play format.

13 players challenged the tough conditions due to a strong wind, present both days of the competition, which was reflected on the scores.

On the Club Championship, Alan Patterson took the win on the men’s side with a total of 171 strokes, followed by Mike Thorpe, with 176, while on the ladies field, Helen Lavis played extraordinary golf to shoot a total of 174 shots, followed by Wikkie de Graaf, with 209.

On the Handicap Salver, both winners of the Club Championship repeated the win: Alan Patterson with a total of a 157, followed by runner up Mike Thorpe with a total of 160 strokes

On the ladies side, Helen Lavis took again the win with a total of 154 strokes, followed by Wikkie de Graaf, who shot 175.

The prize presentation was held at The Club house and hosted by Club Captain Martin Symington.

 

CAPTAIN’S DRIVE IN 17/04/08

The Indiana Course at the Desert Springs Golf Club today played host to the 2008 Captain’s Drive-In. Last year saw Helen Lavis reinvent the Captain’s Drive-In into a ‘Fiesta In Pink’ and incumbent Club Captain Martin Symington decided to continue the great success and introduced the ‘Flintstones’ as the predominant theme for the day!

The day started at 09:00 hrs with a champagne reception at the Cave Bar where many of the members joined in on the fun and demonstrated their support for the day, they themselves dressed as ‘Cave Men & Women’.

Both former and new Captain said a few words and thanked all the participants for supporting such an important social event in the Clubs’ Calendar.

Past Captain Helen Lavis, dressed as ‘Wilma Flintstone’, introduced and thanked David Fernández from Hipergolf for agreeing to keep the ‘Pink Buggy’ at Desert Springs to assist in the raising of funds for the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer for another year.

Then the fun began. All members had placed their markers on the first fairway, some in the rough and some behind the 1st Tee!,  where they thought Martin’s tee shot would end.

Martin, dressed as ‘Fred Flintstone’, after taking a warm-up drive that went Out of Bounds, hit a beautiful drive in front of the his fellow 64 ‘Cave Men & Women’, leaving the shot just a few inches away from Jean Sheehan’s marker, who won a magnum of champagne.

At 10:00 hrs all 16 teams were ready at their respective tee to start the competition by shotgun. All players enjoyed a fantastic golfing day, on a superb golf course in perfect conditions.

After play, and a very much-needed nap, all the participants and partners attended the Buffet Dinner and the prize presentation held at El Torrente restaurant. Director of Golf Simon Coaker introduced Helen Lavis and said a few words thanking Helen for her great efforts throughout her year of Captaincy and then Helen passed on the Captain’s Jacket to new Club Captain Martin Symington.

Respect to the golfing side, a very tight competition was resolved on count back, the same as last years’ event!

The Team of Alan Patterson, Rory McCartney. Yvonne Barrows and Alfonso Castiñeira took the win with 51 points, the same score as the team of Helen Lavis, Martin Symington, Anthony Brooks and Simon Coaker. The team formed by Freddie Beames, Niall Dowling, Wikkie de Graaf and Pat Clay came in third position with 50 points.

The fun continued long into the evening at El Torrente with musical entertainment from Mark Burns playing the guitar and much, much more!

 

INDIANA MASTERS 05 & 06/04/08

The Indiana course presented it’s best conditions to welcome all 24 competitors of The Indiana Masters. This tournament comprises two rounds and the player with more stableford at the end of both tournament rounds becomes the new champion. On this occasion, Hugh Mullins played great golf on his second round to score 40 points, for a total of 72, and took the win by 1 point to second Sue Wood. Brendan Sheehan came close as well with 69 points. The prize presentation was hosted at the Deck in El Torrente Restaurant, and hosted by Barry Carver.

 

DESERT SPRINGS COMMUNITY TROPHY 04/01/08

As usual this time of the year, Desert Springs hosted the Desert Springs Community Trophy. This tournament is open to all members and property owners and their guests.

This year, a total of 6 communities entered this event, and one more year, La Estrella took the win, successfully defending the trophy that had won in 2007. The prize presentation was held at the clubhouse hosted by Desert Springs Club Captain Helen Lavis.

 

EASTER CUP 23/03/08

Desert Springs hosted the Easter Cup on the 23rd of March. The Indiana Course was ready to receive the 48 players who entered the event.

Officially, this was the first competition to be played under the “play as it lies” rule. From this date, players will not be allowed to lift, clean and place the ball when lying on the hard pan.

The players faced windy conditions, which made them show their best skills to fight the course.

Anne Thorpe won the Easter Cup with 37 points, a great score under the tough conditions. Franciso Javier Quintana was second with 36 points, while Laurence Meldrum was 3rd with 34.

The prize giving was held at The Clubhouse and hosted by Club Captain Helen Lavis.

 

CAPTAIN PRO CHALLENGE 21/03/08

Club Captain Helen Lavis organised a Charity Event the 21st of March. She teamed up with Desert Springs Golf Professional Alfonso Castiñeira and challenged any team of 2 players who wanted to have a chance of winning Easter prizes. The lowest score would receive the Captain Pro Challenge Cup.

Helen and Alfonso posted a respectable 39 points to set up a high benchmark. Only two teams could defeat that score, and they were Ladies European Tour players Trish Johnson and Becky Brewerton, with 40 points, and Dennis Stafford, who played along Michael Wherlock, with 41 points.

The prize giving was held at the Clubhouse and was hosted by Club Captain Helen Lavis.

 

ST. PATRICK’S DAY BOWL 17/03/08

One of Desert Springs most typical competitions is the St. Patrick’s Day Bowl, hosted the 17th of March. The competition is followed by a Gala Dinner to celebrate such a special day.

Laurence Meldrum took the win on the Men’s side, with 37 points. Roger Andrews and Brian Chapman completed the podium, with 34 and 33 points respectively.

On the ladies side, Teressa Clements played great golf and score 36 points to win, followed by Catherine Dunphy and Judith Beeton, with 35 and 34 points respectively.

The prize giving took place at the Gala Dinner and hosted by Club Captain Helen Lavis.

 

THE IRISH INTERNATIONAL 15/03/08

Desert Springs hosted one more year The Irish Internacional. An event in which Ireland challenges The Rest of the World on a team event.

15 players from Ireland, and 18 players from The Rest of the World enjoyed the great conditions of the Indiana Course and competed on a very tight competition.

The best 10 stableford scores from each team were selected to calculate the final team score.

Although the individual winner was Irishman Fergus Smyth, with a great round of 42 points, Rest of the World took the win by just 2 points over Ireland!!!

The prize presentation took place at The Crocodile Club hosted by Desert Springs Club Captain Helen Lavis.

 

DESERT SPRINGS WALTZ 08/03/08

On Friday the 4th of January Desert Springs Resort and Golf Club hosted the Desert Springs Waltz. 6 teams composed by 3 players entered this competition.

Once again, a beautiful sunny day welcomed all the contestants, who enjoyed the superb conditions of The Indiana Course.

The winning team was composed by Philip Townsend, Mark Robinson and Steve Jones, with a total of 70 points, followed by M. Robinson, A. Corkhill and C. Smith, with 64 points. Right behind, with 62 points, Helen Lavis, Martin McLellan and Yvonne Barrows closed the podium.

The prize presentation was held at the Deck in the Clubhouse and hosted by Club Captain Helen Lavis.

 

THE ANDALUCIA DAY TOURNAMENT 28/02/08

Desert Springs hosted for the first time, and certainly not the last, the Andalucia Day Tournament. 40 players entered this competition, and enjoyed the beautiful conditions of The Indiana Course.

David Keymer took the win with a great score of 39 points, followed by Hugh Mullins, with 37, and Steve Willingham, who posted a 34 to finish third.

After the competition, all players enjoyed a variety of Tapas and wine at the Clubhouse, followed by the prize presentation, hosted by Desert Springs Golf Professional, Alfonso Castiñeira.

 

DESERT SPRINGS OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP 16/02/08

11 players challenged the Indiana Course at Desert Springs on a beautiful sunny day on a two day competition. The score was calculated by combining the Stableford points of both days.

On this occasion, Brian Chapman took the win with 69 points (38+31), on a 4 point advantage over Harry Bird who made a good second round to try to catch the leader, with rounds of 31 and 34 (65). Patrick Wood came in third place with scores of 30 and 31 to finish with a combined score of 61.

The prize presentation was held at the Clubhouse, and hosted by Phil Lockyer.

 

GOLF 4 ALL PRO AM 7-10/01/08

The II ‘GOLF 4 ALL PRO-AM’ was held on the Indiana course this week. An international field of 42 amateur players, from 10 countries competed alongside 14 of the top women professionals from the Ladies European Tour, including Desert Springs Touring Professionals and Solheim Cup players Trish Johnson and Becky Brewerton, who were joined by a host of top players including Lora Fairclough, Rebecca Hudson, Kirsty Taylor and Dani Masters.

The two day 36-hole event started with a Texas Scramble Tournament, with 4 drives from each player to count. The professional team captains were in charge of the playing strategy as well as being responsible for producing some stunning golf, Lora Fairclough excelled in both areas to lead her team to a score of 51 points, 15 under par.

With all to play for on the second day, the format changed to a best two from four-team event. After a re-draw for professionals, the home team of Desert Springs’ members, Brendan and Jean Sheehan, together with Alan Patterson and team professional Kirsty S Taylor romped home with a massive 93 points, including an amazing clutch of 9 birdies from Kirsty, to claim the championship title for 2008.

Defending champions, also members of Desert Springs, Angel and David del Cerro accompanied by Enrique Mercant and team professional Trish Johnson, put up a gallant defense of their title; a second round 78 points secured them the runners-up position.

 

THE EPIPHANY CHALLENGE 6/01/08

Desert Springs hosted The Epiphany Challenge on the day of the 3 Kings, such a special date in Spain. Once more, The Indiana course was in superb conditions for the competitors, who played on an individual Stableford format.

The beautiful day at Desert Springs helped the players to perform great and post some good scores!

Sue Anderson took the win with 38 points, followed by Christopher Gray, who scored 37 points. Jean Sheehan played a great round of 36 points to finish 3rd.
