Travel Information

Desert Springs Resort is located in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía in south-east Spain.

Almería International Airport is the fast growing local airport for the Almanzora and Desert Springs Resort. An easy 40 minute drive along the E15, a new and virtually empty section of the Autopista de la Mediterrania motorway, which skirts the the Cabo de Gata National Park and the majestic Cabrera Mountains, brings you to the Almanzora and to Desert Springs Resort.

The region is also served by two other international airports, Murcia and Alicante. Both are less than two hours away by car, again all but directly via the E15, making the area easily accessible using both chartered and scheduled 2 1⁄2 hour flights from all parts of the UK and Europe.

The Almanzora Group Ltd. does not itself sell flights or car hire. For your own protection, flights should only be booked with Agents who carry a bond (e.g. ABTA, ATOL). The Almanzora Group Ltd. is happy to provide assistance with flights through Agents who carry such bonds and specialise in flights to Almería, Alicante and Murcia airports. Your total journey distance is approximately 202 km (125 miles) to Desert Springs Resort with a driving time of approximately 2 hours.

- As you leave the car park of the airport bear left to take the N338 following the signs for Murcia A7/E15. [1.0km]

- Join the E15 and continue towards Murcia. Be careful at the junction (138) with the N301 to keep on the E15/N340 following the signs for Alcantarilla/Almeria/Granada. [70.0km]

- Keep travelling along the E15 then take junction 537 signposted Cuevas del Almanzora / Antas. [120.7km]

- As you come off the slip road turn left back under the motorway and continue following the signs to Cuevas del Almanzora, A332. [5.0km]

- This road ends at a T junction, turn right in the direction of Vera, A352. [1.6km]

- Take the first left turning, signposted Palomares, ALP 212 (AL-8104). Continue along this road to the entrance of Desert Springs Resort on the right hand side. [3.3km]

Your total journey distance is approximately 95kms (59 miles), to Desert Springs Resort with a driving time of approximately 50 minutes.

- Leave the airport parking and turn immediately left following the signs for Almeria. [0.2km]

- Follow the road that leaves the airport in the direction of Almeria (E15)/Nijar. [0.5km]

- At the first large roundabout continue straight towards Nijar/Murcia (N344/N347), you will go under two flyovers [0.5km]

- At the second large roundabout bear right towards Almeria/Murcia (E15/N344/N347). Travel along this road until you reach the E15 Autovia. [3.9km]

- Turn right onto the E15 Autovia signposted Nijar/Murcia (E15 / A-7), stay on this road for most of the way. [78km]

- Turn off at Junction 537 signposted Cuevas del Almanzora . Turn right towards Cuevas del Almanzora,  A332. [5.0km]

- This road ends at a T-junction, turn right towards Vera, A352. [1.6km]

- Take the first left turning, signposted Palomares, ALP 212 (AL-8104). Continue along this road to the entrance of Desert Springs Resort on the right hand side. [3.3km]

- As you leave the car park of the airport, bear left and continue to the MA-20. [3.0km]

- Join the MA-20 towards Malaga/Almeria. [98.0km]

- Follow the signs for MA-20/Almeria/A-45 then merge onto Autovia E-15 / A-7.

- Stay on the Autovia E-15 / A-7 for most of the way. [200.0km]

- Turn off at Junction 537 signposted Cuevas del Almanzora . Turn right towards Cuevas del Almanzora, A332. [5.0km]

- This road ends at a T-junction, turn right towards Vera, A352. [1.6km]

Your total journey distance is approximately 130km/77 miles to Desert Springs Resort with a driving time of approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

This route uses a toll road with a current car fee of 9,60€.

- After leaving the car park of the airport, carry straight on at the first roundabout (first exit) onto RM-16. [400m]

- At the second roundabout, take the first exit and stay on RM-16. [1.9km]

- Take the exit toward RM-17. [210m]

- At the roundabout, take the first exit onto RM-17 heading to RM-F21 / Los Martinez del Puerto / A-30 / Cartagena. [1.7km]

- At the roundabout, take the second exit onto A-30 to CARTAGENA. [400m]

- Merge onto A-30. [15.6km]

- Take the exit 180 to merge onto E-15/AP-7 to Almería. Continue along this road until you reach the toll barrier. Stop and take your ticket. [92.9km]

- Continue straight on the motorway until you reach junction 901 Cuevas - Los Lobos, toll is 9,60€. [210m]

- Turn right at the roundabout signposted A332 to Cuevas del Almanzora. [1km]

- After coming out of Cuevas de Almanzora, continue straight onto the A352 to Vera. After 1.5km turn left (on the bend) to Palomares/Las Cunas AL8104. Continue along this road to the entrance of Desert Springs Resort on the right-hand side. [3.3km]

Ferry Services

For those who don’t want to fly, there are regular ferry services from the UK to both Northern Spain and Southern France, which allow you to take advantage of the excellent motorway network to this most spectacular region of Spain.
