NEW YEARS EVE MIXED STABLEFORD: 31/12/2013
32 players decided to end the year in the best way possible by playing golf and participate in the New Year’s Eve Mixed Stableford at the Indiana Course at Desert Springs.
Alan Patterson and Adrienne Ruiz ended the year in style with 44 points.

BRADLEY’S HUGS FUN TOURNAMENT: 29/12/2013
On the 29th of December 9 teams participated in The Bradley’s Hugs Fun Tournament, the tournament was played with the format Texas Scramble, the entry fees raised from the tournament was all donated to the Captain’s Charity. This year’s theme for dress was ‘Your favourite TV show from your childhood’.
The winning team with an impressive score of 59 shots net are Elaine Gray, Steven Gray, Kristopher Gray & Brent Clark-Whittle, congratulations for an excellent team work.

CHRISTMAS INDIVIDUAL STABLEFORD: 27/12/2013
The Christmas Individual Stableford was played on the 27th of December, 26 players participated to do something different during the Christmas celebrations. Elaine Gray won the second category with 38 points and Alan Hewitt won the first category with 38 points.

THE PRESIDENTS CUP: 09/11/2013
On the 9th of November the President Cup was played on the Indiana Course at Desert Springs, 23 players participated on this beautiful Saturday in November.
The tournament had this year a very satisfied winner in Gustavo Penno Taboada with 38 points, the win also resulted in a handicap adjustment for Gustavo from 13,6 to 11,9.

ALL SAINTS DAY STABLEFORD: 01/11/2013
The All Saints Day Stableford attracted a strong field of 47 players, the day offered good weather, great ambience and the Indiana golf course as always in top condition. The participants were divided into 3 categories, Julien Deraedt won the third category with 41 points, Anders Fjelloberg won the second category with 39 points & Jose Angel Muñoz Perez won the first category with 38 points.
Practice seems to pay off, Jose Angel has now managed to get his handicap down to 3,2. Congratulations all winners for a great result.

GOLF 4 WOMEN WINTER FESTIVAL: 27/10 – 1/11/2013
11 teams participated in this year’s edition of the Golf 4 Women Festival, this is a very popular event which generates more interest each year.
The tournament this year was played over 4 days with the formats: Texas Scramble, Greensome, Better Ball & Singles. Due to an impressive final day the team Shots R Us could pass the Yeps Girls and win with 2 shots.
The fourth round was followed by a prize giving dinner at the El Torrente Restaurant.

THE PAST CAPTAINS TEAM CHALLENGE: 27/10/2013
The Past Captains Team Challenge is a competition where the participants are divided into different teams lead by past captains of the Club. This year the 40 participants were divided into 4 teams lead by the past captains: Freddie Beams, Patrick Craig, Wikkie de Graaf& Philip Lockyer. The 7 best stableford results from each team are summed up and the highest total wins.
The winning team with 231 points was led by past Captain Wikkie de Graaf and team consisted of the players: Camillus Muldowney, Barry White, Ashley Roberts, Richard Dunphy, Elizabeth McCartney, A Robertson, Liz Mason, ColmMangan& Marie Muldowney.

CAPTAIN’S CHARITY DAY: 26/10/2013
An impressive fieldof 96 players decided to participate in the Captain’s Charity Day competition and support the Captain’s Charity week. 24 teams teed off with a shotgun start at 09:45, the format played was a Texas Scramble. The day offered good scores with all teams better than 67 shots net, the winning team had an extraordinary day was 2,4 shots better than 2nd place with 54,6 shots net. The members of the winning team: Peter Oakley, Rick Hudson, Robert Stillwell & Karen Stillwell.
The competition was followed by a dinner in the evening at the El Torrente Restaurant which was the final of the Captain’s Charity week.

AUTUMN TROPHY: 19/10/2013
39 members & visitors participated in this year’s edition of the Autumn Trophy, the Indiana Course was generous today and the results were in general good through the field, the winner in the first category Mike Thorpe and the winner in the second category Kirby Garrod both had a very enjoyable day with 41 points.

DESERT CLASSIC: 12-13/10/2013
On the 12th and 13th of October the Desert Classic was played on the Indiana course at Desert Springs, 23 participants played an Individual Stableford and the scoring varied from a total of 17-43 points over the two days.
Richard Fuller took a 3 point lead after the first day with a score of 40 points, on the second day he was able to extend this lead to an impressive 8 shot victory with a total of 43 points. This was the first board competition won by Richard which by coincidence took place on his birthday.
After play the participants enjoyed a 3 course lunch in the El Torrente Restaurant followed by the prize giving with Wikkie De Graaf & David Mathewson.

THE CONSTITUTION CUP: 08/10/2013
The Constitution Cup 2013 offered beautiful weather and good playing conditions, 20 players participated and some really good scores was recorded.
Winner of the Nearest the Pin – Ann Miles, net prizes 3rd place and 70 shot – Lee Coxon, 2nd place with 66 shots Alan Patterson & 1st place with 65 shots ray McHale. The winner of the gross prize and winner of The Constitution Cup of 2013 is Alan Patterson with an impressive round of 70 shots.

SEPTEMBER GREENSOMES: 21/09/2013
18 pairs participated in the September Greensome 2013, this is a popular playing format which is reconfirmed by the number of teams playing. The day offered excellent weather which has been a repeating occurrence for the month of September.
The competition was a close match between two teams who both ended up with a score of 41points, after count back could the team with Richard Fuller & Duncan Boston celebrate their victory. The team Martin & Nicky Vanstone finished in 2nd place and the team Phillip & Zoe Griffiths took 3rd place with 39 points.

SEPTEMBER STABLEFORD: 14/09/2013
A strong field of 38 competitors played the September Stableford, the field was divided into two categories, 1st Category Hcp 0-14,4& 2nd Category Hcp 14,5-36.
One player was outstanding today, an impressive score of 70 shots gross and 41 points Stableford lead Jose Angel Muñoz to the win in the 1st Category followed by Patrick Dunphy in second place with 39 points. The 2nd Category was won by John Rosenthal on count back with 35 points followed by Shona Lockyer in second place.

THE FLAG TOURNAMENT: 24/08/2013
On Saturday the 24th of August 2013, 18 players participated in the annual Flag Tournament on the Indiana Course. The field was divided into two categories: 1st Category Hcp 0-14,3 & 2nd Category Hcp 14,4-36. The tournament was followed by a prize giving ceremony on the deck at the El Torrente Restaurant. John Haydon was able to take a comfortable win in the second category and Jose Angel Muñoz had an outstanding round which lead to the win in the first category.

THE SUMMER CHALLENGE CUP: 03/08/2013
The Summer Challenge Cup of 2013 attracted a field of 20 participants, the field were divided into two categories, 1st Category 0-14,5 and 2nd Category 14,6-36.
Two players achieved 38 points this beautiful summer day at the Indiana Course, after count back Jim Halpenny wins The Summer Challenge Cup and Philip Lockyer finish in second place.

THE PROFESSIONAL’S CHALLENGE CUP: 27/07/2013
In this year’s edition of The Professional’s Challenge Cup the Professional (Martin Brännström) played in pair with the Club Captain (Richard Dunphy), all participants that beat them receives a prize. The Professional/Club Captain summed 37 points after a poor finish, 13 pairs participated in the competition and 6 pairs were able to beat the score of the Professional/Club Captain. Well done and keep up the practice, the Professional will surely be looking for revenge next year.

DESERT SPRINGS MED-FORD: 21/07/2013
22 participants enjoyed this beautiful Sunday at the Indiana Course at Desert Springs. The players were divided into two categories depending on handicaps, the overall winner of the Desert Springs Med-Ford 2013 with 40 points is Phil Miles.

DIRECTOR’S TROPHY: 01/06/2013
The Indiana Course offered as always a good challenge and great weather for the 18 players that participated in the Director’s Trophy. The participants responded to the challenge and best did Sandra Edwards that accomplished 40 points. Congratulations Sandra!

OPEN PAIRS TOURNAMENT: 19/05/2013
14 pairs participated in this year’s edition of the Open Pairs Tournament. It was a close battle between the top three pairs which finally was won by Alan Hewitt & Ray McHale with 41 points, 1 point ahead of Howard Taylor & David Mathewson and 2 points ahead of John Rosenthal & Fergus Smyth.

GOLF SOCIETY & CLUBS CHALLENGE CUP: 11/05/2013
4 teams participated in this tournament which is new on the tournament calendar in 2013. The format for the tournament is 4 players in each team and the 3 best Stableford scores from each team counts. The participants enjoyed a beautiful day with good company and a golf course in good condition.
Freddie Beams produced the best individual Stableford score with 39 points. In the team challenge there was only a 3 points difference between the top three teams, the winning team with a total of 103points was comprised by Phil Miles, John Haydon, Neil Halliday & Lee Coxon.
The prize giving was presented on the Clubhouse Deck by Richard Fuller from the Competitions Committee.

MAY DAY STABLEFORD: 01/05/2013
On the 1st of May 2012 Desert Springs hosted the May Day Competition. 18 players participated in the tournament this beautiful spring day.
Some great golf was played including a gross 73 shots which also lead to winning the tournament with 40points, congratulations Jose Angel Muñoz Perez for an impressive round of golf. In second place Ray McHale with 39 points and in third place Elizabeth Bielby with 37points.
The prize presentation was hosted on the Deck at the Clubhouse by Competition Committee Member Richard Fuller & Club Captain Richard Dunphy.

THE SPRING CUP: 20/04/2013
The Spring Cup of 2013 was played on Saturday the 20th of April, 42 players enjoyed the day, the increased number of participants during the club tournaments has been noticed as the participants was one again divided into three categories: 1st Category Hcp 0-11. 2nd Category Hcp 11.1-17.0 & 3rd Category Hcp 17.1-36.0
The winners of the three categories at The Spring Cup 2013 are: 1st Category – Rory McCartney with 38 points, 2nd Category – Ray McHale with 36 points and 3rd Category – Zoe Griffiths with 37 points.
With the best score of the three categories, Rory McCartney is the Winner of the Spring Cup 2013.
Zoe Griffiths could with skill and a bit of luck hole her tee shot on the 8th Hole, it was confirmed on the prize giving by her playing partners that the Hole in One was a good shot.

INDIANA MASTERS: 13 & 14/04/2013
The Indiana Masters of 2013 attracted a field of 32 players. The tournament was played over 2 days, 18 holes each day with the format Individual Stableford.
This year the participants were divided into three categories: 1st Category Hcp 0-11,0, 2nd Category Hcp 11,1-17,5 & 3rd Category Hcp 17,6-36,0.
Winds and quick greens challenged the participants but there was some really good scores produced considering the rather tough conditions.
ose Angel Muñoz Perez won the 1st Category with 68 points, Wikki de Graaf won the 2nd Category with 67 points & Alberto Quevedo González won the 3rd Category with 73 points. The winner of the Indiana Masters was thereby Alberto Quevedo González as he had the best total score through the three categories.
The prize presentation was held at the El Torrente Restaurant, hosted by Desert Springs Richard Dunphy (Club Captain), Richard Fuller (Competition Committee), Wikkie Graaf (Competition Committee) & Martin Brännström (Golf Operations Manager).

CAPTAIN'S DRIVE-IN: 05/04/2013
A very good field of 84 players participated in the 2013 Captain´s Drive-In Tournament at Desert Springs Resort.
A morning cocktail was served at the Cave Bar, where players could contribute to charity by buying the hole number which they would tee off from at the tournament. The actual Drive-In was held afterwards on the 1st Tee, followed by the tournament shotgun start.
The format of this tournament is Texas Scramble. The winning team for the Captain’s Drive-In 2013 is Brendan Sheehan, Jean Sheehan, Sergio Saavedra Morales & Cristina Lopez de Alda, their result was 52 points returned, which was good enough for winning by 3 points. Our new captain Richard Dunphy had a good start to his year as captain and his team finished in 3rd place.

THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP & HANDICAP SALVER: 2-3/04/2013
The Club Championship & Handicap Salver 2013 had the highest number of participants through the history of this tournament. The Indiana was set up to give the players a challenge, quick and smooth greens and some interesting pin positions. Congratulations to all prize winners!

THE EASTER CUP: 31/03/2013
The Easter Cup was played on the 31st of March, a strong field of 70 players were divided into 4 different categories, three categories for Men & one category for Ladies. The winners on this beautiful spring day at Desert Springs are: 1st Category – Mark Newall with 39 points, 2nd Category – David Hadden with 37 points, 3rd Category – Rick Hudson with 38 points & Ladies Category – Nicky Vanstone with 40 points.

ST PATRICK’S DAY BOWL: 17/03/2013
34 players participated in the St Patrick’s Day Bowl 2013, it was a beautiful Sunday in March at Desert Springs, some good golf was played but most importantly all players were enjoying a day out on a Championship Golf Course with good weather. The tournament was devided into two categories: 1st Category – Handicap 0-15,9 & 2nd Category 16,0 – 24. The winner of the 1st Category and the winner of the St Patrick’s Day Bowl are Roger Butters with 40 points, the winner of the 2nd Category are Leo Kenny with 38 points.

THE IRISH INTERNATIONAL: 15/03/2013
24 players decided to participate in The Irish International on the 15th of March, this annual club tournament is a match between the Ireland VS The Rest of the World. The tournament includes plenty of prestige and through the years the results has been favourable for the Rest of the World. This year was no different and the Rest of the World could take home the victory again. The best individual result of the day was produced by Jean Sheehan with 42 points.

THE DESERT SPRINGS WALTZ: 02/03/2013
The Desert Springs Waltz was played on the 2nd of March, 12 players competed this day under the format Individual Stableford.
ANDALUCIA DAY: 28/02/2013
The Andalucia Day offered as always a day with excellent weather at Desert Springs, the tournament had a new record of 27 participants that could enjoy the day and golf course.
THE CARNIVAL SCRAMBLE: 16/02/2013
On the 16th of February 2013 the first edition of The Carnival Scramble was played on the Indiana Course. This new club tournament attracted 46 players which dressed up for the occasion.
DESERT SPRINGS OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP: 9-10/02/2013
The Desert Springs Open Championship is a 2 day stableford tournament played over 36 holes. This year the event attracted 20 players that all tried to manage their way around the Indiana Course in the best possible way. The player that handled this challenge in the best way Sergio Saavedra.
THE EPIPHANY CHALLENGE: 06/01/2013
The Epiphany Challenge attracted 19 entrants, all hoping to include their name on this first honours board tournament of the year. Anne Thorpe had a successful day on the golf course and could take her first win of an Honours Board tournament at Desert Springs.
DESERT SPRINGS COMMUNITY TROPHY: 02/01/2013
26 members participated in this year’s edition of the Community Trophy. The winner and best golf community as Desert Springs during 2013 are BUENAVISTA COMMUNITY.
Desert Springs congratulates all team members to this prestigious win.
