A message from the Club Captain

Captain’s Charity Saturday 8th October

Theme

As previously advised the dress theme for the golf and dinner will be “Bright and gaudy”, with golf requiring teams of 4, live music with the dinner – requesting jackets for the men. All non-golfers are invited to join all the non-golf elements of the day.

Golf

The entry form available from Golf Reception should be completed as normal

Format: Teams of 4 playing Texas Scramble, handicaps calculated using WHI recommendations:

Playing handicap x 25%+20%+15%+10% from lowest to highest handicap.

Nearest the pin on each par 3: –

  • 2nd – Highest Handicap in each group
  • 8th – Second Highest handicap in each group
  • 12th – Third Highest handicap in each group
  • 14th – Lowest Handicap in each group
  • 17th – All players

All players to take a minimum of 3 drives and maximum of 7.

Golfers with no official handicap will be allocated one at the discretion of the Captain.

Start time: 08.30hrs. Cave bar, light Bar-B-Q breakfast, and tournament announcements.

Shotgun Start – preferred tees can be purchased (€10pp) from Vice Captain Nicki McKemmie-Watson.

Mulligans (max 1 per person) will be on sale (€5pp) – to be used individually, purchase of mulligan enters player into straightest drive competition from 1st Tee before the shotgun (no irons to be used), Mulligans available from Nicki.

When purchasing tees or Mulligans please also advise Nicki if you have a group (min 8/ max 10) who would like a table.

Post Golf – Clubhouse is open for drinks until 16.00hrs.

Dinner: 18.00hrs. – El Torrente Restaurant

On Course Service:

Refreshments will be served (for a charity donation) at the Hacienda. If you would like to assist either with the provision of refreshments or support Karen and Hetty with the hosting, please let Lynne know via email: dscaptain@btinternet.com

Auction & Express Raffle:

I have already received some great items for the auction, including a Joe Root Test Sweater, Shark Leather Golf Shoes (Size 8), Iconic Sir Ian Botham limited edition Dressing Room Print, Unique Limited Edition Queen Box Sets (unopened), 42” Smart TV, a signed copy of “This is Going to Hurt” and a golf match against Sir Ian Botham and myself. I plan to publish an e-catalogue for the auction a few days in advance so everyone has the chance to plan their bidding, and I will also be accepting bids in advance from those who cannot attend (email dscaptain@btinternet.com). If you have (or can locate) special unique items which you would like to donate for the auction and / or raffle please let me know as soon as possible.
