Christine Langford

Desert Springs´ Academy Director and Ladies Golf Ambassador Christine Langford has been made an Advanced Fellow of the Professional Golfers Association.  Chris received her award at a ceremony at the PGA´s West Region Headquarters in March.

PGA chief executive Sandy Jones said: "PGA Advanced Fellow Professional status is awarded to members who have made a significant contribution to golf within their field of expertise. Many will enjoy strong national and even international reputations and the honor recognises their outstanding achievement within the sport."

Chris, who is one of the first women to receive the award, is also one of the best-known women coaches in Britain and has been in the profession for over thirty years.  She has competed on all the major tours and is a founder member and former chairman of the Ladies European Tour.

Following a successful playing career, in which she won 5 tournaments Chris became the first woman professional to be appointed head professional at a committee run golf club in the UK at Clevedon in Somerset.  She later became the first woman to be appointed the position of Director of Golf when she moved to Castle Combe Golf Club in Wiltshire.

Chris established her own golf school business in 1992 at Bowood Golf & Country Club. Since that time she has been a coach to the English Ladies Golf Association, National Coach to the Welsh Ladies Golf Union and numerous County Golf Associations. Desert Springs is now the home venue for Christine Langford Golf Schools where Chris also runs the unique Golf4Women programme and the Golf Academy.
