Competitions Committee

Dear Members,

Following the last committee meeting I am delighted to inform you that the following local rule will be adopted immediately for general play and for all Club Competitions from the 1st January 2010.

Distance-Measuring Devices (“DMDs”):
For all play at this course, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his/her play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used.

This means that from that date you will be able to use GPS devices, laser range finders etc. in all competitions providing that they do not provide the additional functionality outlined above. It is of course an individual’s responsibility to make sure that any equipment they use is not in breach of any rules.

Best wishes,
