Golf 4 All Pro AM

Fame More and Alex Keithley shared the honors at the inaugural ‘Golf 4 All Pro-Am’ held at the magnificent Indiana Course at the Desert Springs Golf Resort in Almeria, South East Spain.

Desert Springs Resort and Golf Club is an international award winning family leisure resort in South East Spain, with a wide range of quality relaxation and sports facilities and exclusive luxury homes set beside the emerald green fairways of a stunning and unique championship desert golf course, presenting unforgettable views and golf of such a dramatic nature, that it has taken golf in general in this part of Spain to a new level of excellence.

Desert Springs is fast becoming the European destination for top class women’s golf. It is the winter training base for several international squads and is unique in having a ladies’ golf ambassador, former LET player Christine Langford. The ‘Golf 4 All Pro-Am’ itself has initiated an exciting and varied ‘GOLF 4 WOMEN’ program, which runs through the year at Desert Springs, offering of a variety of unique events for women golfers, from the aspiring to the elite.

Thirteen players from the Ladies’ European Tour played alongside teams from ten different countries in this unique event. Played over 2 days, the amateur partners were joined by a different professional for each round; the winning team being the amateur team with the highest points over the 2 days.

The Spanish Team of Enrique Mercant, Angel del Cerro and his 9 handicap son David were victorious, captained on the first day by Fame and then led to victory in the final round by Alex, the Spanish team won by 3 points from Irelands Martin Symington, Laura Rushby (Scotland) and Gines Periago Rosa (Spain).

There was a hint of some pre season form from many of the Professionals; Becky Brewerton from Wales, holed out her second shot at the 10th to be 6 under par just over the half way mark.

Former Solheim Cup player and winner of last month’s Mauritius Open, Lora Fairclough said; ‘The players from the Ladies European Tour have been treated at Desert Springs to both a unique course and hospitality and have made new friendships. This has been the perfect way to see in the new golfing season and we are all looking forward to hopefully being invited back next year!’

Along with Lora, Danni Masters, El Pilgrim and Jo Oliver also showed some stunning form putting together sub par rounds!
