Dear Member / Property Owner,

Following on from the ‘The Golf Course Superintendent’s News Letter’ sent to you in July which was designed to keep you up to date with all of the important maintenance procedures which were scheduled to take place on The Indiana Course in August, we are pleased to be able to give you an update on the works carried out and to inform you of the schedule of works which shall take place in September 2011.

Fungicide Spraying

The preventative application of fungicides to help safeguard and protect the golf course against strong summer turf grass diseases has been completed as per the schedule. This program will be ongoing throughout the summer months.

Hand Watering

The programme of hand watering the greens and tees has continued as per the schedule.

Solid Tining Greens

The solid tining of the greens has been completed as per the schedule.

Fungicide Spraying

The preventative fungicide spraying program of all grass areas will continue in September. This safeguard helps protect the course against strong summer turf grass diseases. Signs will be placed on fairway 1, green surround 1 and fairway 9 to remind all players that spraying is in progress. The reception staff will also advise players before play when spraying is in progress. Please remember to wash your hands after play.

Hand Watering

Throughout the summer months hand watering of the greens and tees will take place. Please be advised that this is an essential part of summer maintenance. Hand watering cannot be stopped during play for this reason.

Golf Course Overseeding and Sand Topdressing Program

After the summer months, some areas of the golf course will benefit from over seeding to improve turf density and quality. All the rye grass green surrounds, fairways and roughs will be over seeded and topdressed, starting on holes 1, 3, 5, 16, 17 and 18. During this time a local rule of “preferred lies” will be introduced. The reception staff will be updated with the golf course condition on a daily basis.
