GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT’S
Dear Member / Property Owner,
Following on from the Golf Course Superintendent’s News Letter sent to you in June, which was designed to keep you up to date with all of the important maintenance procedures which were scheduled to take place on The Indiana Course in July, we are pleased to be able to give you an update on the works carried out and to inform you of the schedule of works which shall take place in August 2014.
JULY COURSE MAINTENANCE UPDATE
Hydro Jet Greens
The schedule of Hydro-Jetting the green has commenced. The remaining holes will be hydro-jetted in August.
The preventative application of fungicides to help safeguard and protect the course against strong summer turf grass diseases has been completed as per the schedule. The monthly spray program will be ongoing throughout the summer months.
Unión Deportiva Almeria “B” Football Training Camp at Desert Springs
Almeria “B” Football Club (second team) has selected the Desert Spring Resort for their pre-season training camp, scheduled to take place between Wednesday 30th July to Saturday 2nd August. It is a great achievement to secure such a high profile team at the resort and is testament to the quality of both the playing surface of the Resort´s football pitch and its facilities. The football pitch will be closed during this time. Please ask the club house reception for details.
AUGUST COURSE MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME
The preventative fungicide spraying program of all grass areas will continue in August. This safeguard helps protect the course against strong summer turf grass diseases. Signs will be placed on fairway 1, green surround 1 and fairway 9 to remind all players that spraying is in progress. The reception staff will also advise players before play when spraying is in progress. Please remember to wash your hands after play.
Golf Course Landscaping Improvements
In keeping with the original landscaping plan, additional palm trees will be planted on the 18th hole, strategically positioned running up and along the right hand side of the hole; with the aim of preventing an errant hit golf shot ending up out of bounds entering properties. The work is scheduled to take place throughout the first week of August. Disruption to golf will be keep to an absolute minimum.
