MAY COURSE MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME

Greens hollow coring

As previously advised, please be reminded that the greens will be hollow cored on Tuesday 7th May and the practice area will be closed on Wednesday 8th May until 17:00hrs. The hollow coring of the greens is a maintenance practice which is scheduled each year to both maintain and enhance the playing quality of the putting surfaces. This practice creates the required environment for strong vigorous roots to grow, the very essence of golf course maintenance.

Landscaping Projects

New plant material will be introduced around the golf course as we start to clear the stock held at our cactus nursery in Las Cunas. Some of the cactus are very big and will be transported onto the golf course with trucks. Disruption to play will be keep to an absolute minimum.

New Putting Green

In collaboration with the European Tour, Desert Springs will be constructing a new putting green at the Golf Academy. The new 450sq.m putting green will be located between the driving range tee and the existing putting green, to provide greater flexibility to both European Tour players as well as Members and guests when practicing. The project of works will consist of the removal and relocation of existing plant material and rocks to allow space for the USGA specification green to be built. The area will be fenced off during this time. The new green will be seeded with A4 Creeping bent grass with a rye grass collar in keeping with the existing greens of the Indiana course. The construction works of the green will take approximately 4 weeks to complete.
