NEW YEARS EVE MIXED PAIRS : 31/12/2014
In what can only be described as a simply stunning morning to play golf, with a fresh nip in the air, and powder blue sunny skies, 20 pairs teed it up to compete for the prize. The Indiana Course was in pristine condition and provided perfect playing conditions for all golfers.
The winners of the event with a sensational 42 points were Steven and Elaine Gray, just pipped into 2nd place on 41 points were Martin and Nicky Vanstone, with 3rd place going to Bill and Nicola Iles with 39 points on a count back.
The prize giving was held on the beach area of the clubhouse and was hosted by Club Captain David Mathewson.

THE COMMUNITY TROPHY : 29/12/2014
The Community Trophy is an appreciated tournament at Desert Springs where the different communities at the Resort do battle in a stableford tournament to try and claim team honours as the best Community in Golf.
A true team effort with 5 out of the top 8 individual scores for the day coming from the champion combined Communities of Echo Rock, La Fuente, and Las Sierras ensured they were crowned winners for 2015.

CHRISTMAS INDIVIDUAL STABLEFORD : 27/12/2014
There was an excellent turn-out of 44 players for the Christmas Individual Stableford which was held on December 27th 2014. Santa Claus appeared to have given many players a spring in their step and the scoring followed suit.
The winner of the Competition was Dennis Stafford, with 38 points.
The prize giving was conducted by Richard Fuller from the Competitions Committee, with prizes being presented by Kirk Lovell – Golf Services Manager.
A fantastic day was had by all.

THE PRESIDENT'S CUP : 08/11/2014
A total of 33 players competed on the magnificent Indiana Course for this year’s President’s Cup.
The conditioning of the course was superb and the weather perfect, which allowed the competitors to score really well.
It was an extremely close battle between Ray Charles, Nicky Vanstone and the winner Richard Dunphy, with 39 points and the lowest handicap, who took home the Trophy.
Prize presentation was held at El Torrente Restaurant and hosted by Club Captain David Mathewson.

THE HANDICAP SALVER : 01-02/11/2014
On the 1st and 2nd November, the Indiana Course at Desert Springs hosted the 2014 Handicap Salver. 31 players competed over two days under perfect weather conditions for this medal play competition.
Paul Taylor surged ahead after two rounds of 72 and 68 to win by 3 shots over Lee Coxon while Ann Miles lead the ladies’ competition with rounds of 74 and 71 to win by 2 shots over Elaine Gray.

PAST CAPTAIN'S TEAM CHALLENGE : 26/10/2014
Four previous Club Captain’s including Patrick Craig, Freddie Beames, Wikkie de Graaf and Richard Dunphy, gathered a total of 39 players to compete on the fantastic Indiana Course. The weather once again was perfect and the competitors battled to win the Past Captain’s Team Challenge Trophy.
Freddie Beames lead his team to a very tight victory with 213 points over Wikkie de Graaf’s, with 212. Freddie also managed to get 36 points, which was just enough to win the individual competition over Leo Kenny and David Mathewson, both with 35.

CAPTAIN'S CHARITY DAY : 25/10/2014
A total of 16 teams entered the Captain’s Charity Day and enjoyed a fun Texas Scramble competition on a beautiful day at the Indiana Course. Conditions were ideal for great scoring and the teams took advantage of this.
This year, Club Captain David Mathewson decided to support two local charities: Asprodalba and Vivir, who will receive very much needed help.
The winning team on this occasion was Camillus Muldowney, Marie Muldowney, Colm Mangan and Cadiman Mangan.
Prize presentation was held at El Torrente Restaurant, after a delicious dinner and some Spanish entertainment.

AUTUMN TROPHY : 18/10/2014
This year’s Autumn Trophy attracted an excellent field of 52 competitors, who enjoyed The Indiana course in superb condition once again. The scoring reflected the condition of the course and the lovely weather.
Joint Runners Up with 39 points were Phil Miles and Phil Webster, this year´s winner was Adrienne Ruiz with 41 points.

DESERT CLASSIC : 11-12/10/2014
A very strong field of 33 competitors contested this year’s Desert Classic. This 36 hole tournament was played over two days, Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th October at the superb Indiana Course at Desert Springs.
The category 1 & overall winner was Alan Hewitt with a total of 69 points. The winner of the 2nd category (handicaps 11.5 – 36) was Adrienne Ruiz with 68 points.

THE CONSTITUTION CUP : 07/10/2014
33 Competitors entered this year’s Constitution Cup. On a very warm day and with The Indiana Course playing every one of its 5,700 meters after the recent rainfall the scoring was excellent.
In first position in the ´Visitors´section was Duncan Boston, first place, and winner of The Ladies Constitution Cup was Susan Kenny and the winner of The
Men’s Constitution Cup was Lee Coxon, despite only arriving at The Resort at 11.00pm on Monday evening. Congratulations to all who played.

SEPTEMBER GREENSOMES : 20/09/2014
A field of 20 competitors played in this year’s September Greensomes. With the Indiana course in excellent condition, the entrants took full advantage with some good golf and excellent scoring.
Runners up were Husband and Wife team of Stuart and Josie Baynham with 36 points, but clear winners with an amazing score of 44 points were Andrew Markham and Adrienne Ruiz.
The prize giving was held on the terrace of the clubhouse and was conducted by Phil Miles from Competition Committee-

THE PROFESSIONAL CHALLENGE CUP : 13/09/2014
A field of 32 players competed for this year’s Professional Challenge Trophy. With temperatures again in the mid 30´s scoring was excellent on the superb Indiana Course.
The winners with 43 points were Richard Fuller and Duncan Boston, beating John Hydon and Alan Hewitt on a countback.
The presentation was held in the clubhouse and was made by Club Captain Mr David Mathewson.

SEPTEMBER STABLEFORD : 06/09/2014
A field of 23 competitors consisting of 16 members and 7 visitors enjoyed The September Stableford completion at Desert Springs. The Indiana Course was, as usual in fantastic condition with temperatures in the 30ºs.
The scoring was excellent in the hot conditions and with our Junior Members having returned to the UK it was time for some of our more experienced Golfers to return to the fore! The winner being our Club Captain Mr David Mathewson with 36 points and the Visitors category being won by a member of our Caddy Staff Francisco Conesa.
The presentation was held in the clubhouse and was made by Club Captain Mr David Mathewson and Mr Phil Miles from the Competition Committee.

THE FLAG COMPETITION : 23/08/2014
A field of 38 competitors consisting of 24 members and 14 visitors enjoyed beautiful warm sunshine and The Indiana Course in superb condition for the annual ´Flag´competition.
The scoring was remarkable with the winner being 9 year old Charles Mckinnes with a net 61 beating his brother, 13 year old Harry into second place. Harry himself scoring a superb net 66! Two real stars of the future. First place in the Members category was Phil Miles with a net 70. Congratulations to all competitors but especially to Charlie and Harry.
The presentation was held in the clubhouse and was made by Club Captain Mr David Mathewson.

SUMMER CHALLENGE CUP : 02/08/2014
A field of 31 competitors which was split between 23 members and 9 visitors entered this year’s Summer Challenge Cup on 2nd August´.
Course conditions were excellent, as was the scoring on a very hot summer’s day.
The winner with an excellent score of 39 points was Mark Newell, just beating Phil Angus into second place.
Leading visitor was Liam Dunphy with 34 points

DESERT SPRINGS MED-FORD : 19/07/2014
A field of 21 competitors enjoyed a hot, sunny day and The Indiana Course in superb condition for The Desert Springs Med-Ford Tournament on Saturday 19th July.
Scoring was excellent with many of the competitors returning scores below their handicap. Runner Up was Andrew Markham with last year’s winner Phil Miles retaining his title and reducing his handicap as a result.
The presentation was held in the clubhouse and was made by Golf Operations Manager, Neil Evans.

DIRECTOR'S TROPHY : 07/06/2014
A field of 21 competitors enjoyed a hot, sunny day and The Indiana Course in superb condition for The Desert Springs Med-Ford Tournament on Saturday 19th July.

OPEN PAIRS TOURNAMENT : 18/05/2014
On May 18th Desert Springs hosted the Open Pairs Competition on the Indiana Course. It was sunny and warm with a light breeze, and the course was in excellent condition.
A total of 12 teams entered the tournament, and prizes were given to the top three.
The results were 1st Richard Fuller and Roger Butters with 37 points, 2nd Dennis Stafford and Neil Halliday with 35 points and in 3rd place Adrienne Ruiz and Andrew Markham.
The presentation was held in the Club House at the El Torrente Restaurant and hosted by Phil Miles from the Competitions Committee and prize presented by Neil Evans Golf Operations Manager.

MAY STABLEFORD : 10/05/2014
19 players participated in The May Stableford on the 10th of May 2014. The tournament was played with weather conditions perfect for good scoring; 31 degrees with just a light breeze and the course in fantastic condition.
The tournament was divided into two categories and turned into a real family affair.
1st place in category one (HDCP 0-13.1) was Phil Miles with 38 points whilst 1st place in category two (HDCP 13.2-36) was taken by his wife, Mrs. Ann Miles with 36 points.
The prize giving was conducted by Club Captain David Mathewson and was held on the deck area of the Clubhouse.

THE CAPTAIN´S DRIVE-IN : 25/04/14
The Captains Drive-In had an impressive field of 94 players which is 10 more than last year.
Members were invited to the Cave Bar for a glass of champagne, players contributed to charity by guessing the location where the Captain’s Drive-In would end up. The actual Drive in was held afterwards on the 1st Tee, followed by the tournament shotgun start
The format of The Captain’s Drive-In is Texas Scramble. The winning team for the Captains Drive-In 2014 are Tomas Albert Kennedy, Fergus Symth, Jim Kelly and Niall Dowling with a total of 56 points, in second place Club Captain David Mathewson with Janet Mathewson, Judith Mclellan and Richard Martin Mclellan with a total of 55 points and third place are Leo Kenny, Susan Kenny Kay Dunphy Patrick Dunphy with a total of 54 points.
The prize giving was held after the dinner that was arranged at the Crocodile Club.

THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP STABLEFORD : 23/04/2014
The Club Championship Stableford was played on the 23rd of April 2014, 42 Men & Ladies participated in this Individual Stableford tournament. The Indiana course was set up to give the players a good challenge.
The 2014 Club Champion Stableford winners are Patrick Sweeney in the 1st category Patricia Deraedt in the 2nd category and Adrienne Ruiz in the 3rd categorry.
In the evening the Captains Dinner was held in El Torrente Restaurant followed by the prize giving for the Club Championship Stableford Winners.

THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP : 22-23/04/2014
The Club Championship was played on the 22nd and 23rd of April 2014, 30 Men & Ladies participated in this Strokeplay tournament played over two days. The Indiana course was set up to give the players a good challenge, the Men played from the Championship tees and some of the pin placements tested the players skills around the greens.
The 2014 Ladies Club Champion is Sue Wood, after an excellent second round Sue could comfortably collect her second Club Championship title.
Alan Hewitt is the winner of the Men’s Club Championship 2014 after an exciting second day, Alan won in the end his first Club Championship at Desert Springs one shot ahead of Jose Angel Muñoz in second place.
In the evening the Captains Dinner was held in El Torrente Restaurant followed by the prize giving for the Club Championship Winners.

THE EASTER CUP : 20/04/2014
64 players participated in The Easter Cup 2014. The participants enjoyed a sunny Easter Sunday on the Indiana Course with many good scores and including a Hole in One by Paul Taylor. The participants were divided into three members’ categories and two visitors’ categories. The winner of the Easter Cup of 2014 is Patrick Dunphy who had an outstanding day of golf with 45 points.

THE INDIANA MASTERS : 12-13/04/2014
The Indiana Masters 2014 was held on the 12th – 13th April at Desert Springs, when the Professionals are playing 4 rounds at the Augusta National the Desert Springs members plays two rounds at the Indiana Course. The 43 participants enjoyed a day of golf with summer temperatures and quick greens. The winner of the Indiana Masters 2014 is Jose Angel Muñoz Perez, he had an outstanding performance and won 10 shots ahead of second placed player Mark Newall. Philip Lockyer won the second category and Gustavo Penno Taboada won the Guest Category.
The Participants sat down after play for a “Menu del Dia” at El Torrente Restaurant, after the meal a prize giving was held hosted by Wikkie de Graaf & Richard Fuller from the competition committee and Richard Dunphy, Club Captain.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY BOWL : 17/03/2014
The St. Patrick’s Day Bowl attracted the highest number of participants so far during this year, 59 players enjoyed this stableford tournament followed by a Menú del Día at El Torrente restaurant after play.
The 34 members participating with Spanish handicaps were divided into two categories and 16 players participated in the Guest Category. Roland Grundkvist won the Guest Category with 35 points, Zoe Griffiths won the Second Category with 38 points and Neil Halliday won the First Category with 36 points. The winner of the St. Patricks Day Bowl of 2014 is Zoe Griffiths, the prize giving was held after lunch by Richard Fuller and Wikkie de Graaf from the competition committee.

MEMORIAL DAY TOURNAMENT : 15/03/2014
The first edition of the Memorial Tournament at Desert Springs was supported by 45 participants who honoured the members and owners that are no longer with us. The participants were divided into 3 Categories with Roger Butters winning the first category with 37 points, Neil Halliday winning the second category with 39 points and Manuel Francisco Ruiz Orozco winning the third category with 37 points. The prize giving was held at the deck at El Torrente Restaurant after play and was hosted by Richard Fuller & Wikke de Graaf from the competition Committee.

THE DESERT SPRINGS WALTZ : 01/03/2014
Nine teams of 3 players participated in this year’s edition of the Desert Springs Waltz. The tournament is played in a team stableford format where the number of scores that is counted from the team on each hole is depending on the hole number. The participants enjoyed a beautiful Saturday morning on the Indiana Course. The team that played the best golf on this day was Christopher Cole, Alan Hewitt & Ray McHale, their team results was 72 points, 3 points ahead of the teams on second place and third place. The prize giving was held in El Torrente Restaurant and was hosted by the Vice Captain David Mathewson.

ANDALUCIA DAY : 28/02/2014
On Friday 28th of February 21 players participated in the Andalucía Day Tournament. The day offered challenging conditions that is confirmed by the scores which was handed in during the day. The player that performed best considering the conditions was Gina Roberts that with 34 points won the tournament one point ahead of Jose Angel Muñoz Perez and Roger Butters, both with 33 points. The prize giving was held on the deck in the El Torrente Restaurant and was hosted by Richard Fuller from the Competitions Committee.

THE CARNIVAL SCRAMBLE : 18/02/2014
12 players participated in The Carnival Scramble on the 18th of February 2014. The day offered interesting costumes and many laughter’s from participants and other guests. The tournament was a close competition between two teams where the winning team finally won with 51 points, just one point ahead of the second placed team.
The tournament was followed by Wines & Tapas and prize giving at the Crocodile Club, the prize giving was hosted by Richard Fuller from the Competition Committee.

DESERT SPRINGS OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP : 15-16/02/2014
The Desert Springs Open Championship was played on the 15th and 16th of February 2014. 23 participants enjoyed two days of golf on the Indiana Course with sunshine and good company.
The field was divided into two categories, 1st Category with handicaps 0- 13,8 & second Category with handicaps 13,9-36. The winner of the second category was Ann Miles with 65 points and the winner of the first category was Jose Angel Muñoz with 70 points. The prize giving after the tournament was held at the El Torrente Restaurant and was hosted by Wikkie de Graaf & Richard Fuller from the competitions committee.

THE EPIPHANY CHALLENGE : 06/01/2014
The Epiphany Challenge of 2014 attracted a field of 34 players, the players enjoyed spectacular weather and a golf course in top condition. The winner of the first board tournament of the year is Paul Taylor with 41 points, the winner of the second category with also 41 points is Zoe Griffiths.

DESERT SPRINGS COMMUNITY TROPHY : 02/01/2014
The Community Trophy is an appreciated tournament at Desert Springs where the different communities at the resort play a stableford tournament and the 5 best results from each community counts.
Martin Vanstone had a good start to his golfing year, with 43 points he had the best individual result during the day, the result contributed to that his community ‘Powderhorn’ could comfortably win this year’s Community Trophy.
