Title: | Cricket Ireland Men prepare for return to Test Cricket Desert Springs Resort | |
The Men’s national team of Cricket Ireland will be stepping up their preparations for their return to Test Match Cricket in 2023 with a five (5) day Red Ball Training camp at Desert Springs ICC accredited Cricket Ground & Academy between Sunday 19th February – Thursday 23rd February.
Fourteen (14) players and three (3) coaching staff will be involved in a mixture of high performance training, spending their time completing a specific and carefully planned programme of numerous training sessions each day covering technical skills, bowling and batting, strength and conditioning and both individual and group activity.
Grass net practice, both bowling and batting will take place at the Cricket Academy. Match simulations, strength and conditioning work, running, speed and agility work will be completed at the Cricket Ground and Gym at the Sierras Sports Club.
Desert Springs Group Sales & Marketing Manager Simon Coaker commented;
“Desert Springs was host to Ireland’s Girl’s U19 and the Women’s National Team prior to the ICC Women’s U’19 T20 World Cup 2023 and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 respectively.
To now have the opportunity to host the Men’s National team while preparing for a return to five-day Test Match Cricket is a privilege for the resort and testimony to the quality of both the cricket and resort facilities we provide, and we very much look forward to providing them with a warm welcome.”
The players and coaches will be accommodated in some of the privately-owned Villas at Desert Springs and the resort’s executive chef will be on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the Crocodile Club Restaurant.

The Men’s national team of Cricket Ireland will be stepping up their preparations for the 2022 campaign with a five (5) day Training camp at Desert Springs ICC accredited Cricket Ground & Academy between Sunday 27th March – Friday 1stApril.
Eleven (11) players and three (3) coaching staff will be involved in a mixture of high performance training, spending their time completing a specific and carefully planned programme of numerous training sessions each day covering technical skills, bowling and batting, strength and conditioning and both individual and group activity.
Grass net practice, both bowling and batting will take place at the Cricket Academy. Match simulations, strength and conditioning work, running, speed and agility work will be completed at the Cricket Ground and Gym at the Sierras Sports Club.
