Title: Malvern College Cricket Academy complete pre-season training camp at Desert Springs Resort

With the domestic cricket season now in full swing, Malvern College Cricket Academy have now returned to the UK after completing a successful four (4) day training camp at Desert Springs Resort, Europe’s only international award-winning luxury family resort and championship desert golf course with its very own dedicated Cricket Ground and Academy, in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía in south-east Spain.

Between Saturday 13th – Wednesday 17th April, Head Coach Noel Brett, Coach Liam Smith and Girls Head Coach Thea Brookes, accompanied thirteen (13) players, five (5) girls and eight (8) boys aged between 13-15 years, who completed bowling, batting and fielding practice as well as strength and conditioning training sessions and match simulations on the cricket ground, as they stepped up their physical preparations for the 2019 season.

Malvern College Head Coach Noel Brett commented:

“The facilities at Desert Springs have again been first-class and it has been great to get some cricket before the season starts back home. Being able to play outside on the grass pitches has been invaluable and the players have enjoyed every minute. Thank you to Nick and the team for looking after us so well!”

The culmination of the camp saw Malvern College compete against St. John’s School in a competitive T20 Match at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground on Tuesday 16th April.

Accommodation for the players and coaches was in some of the privately-owned apartments and townhouses at Desert Springs Resort normally reserved for holidays and short breaks and the resort’s executive chef was on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the resort’s Crocodile Club Restaurant.

Title: Malvern College Cricket Academy set to return to Desert Springs Resort for Training Camp

Between Saturday 13th – Wednesday 17th April, Malvern College Cricket Academy will be returning to Desert Springs Resort for the second year to step up their preparations for the 2019 cricket season by attending a four (4) day training camp at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground & Academy.

Malvern College located in Malvern, Worcestershire, is a co-educational full boarding and day school for pupils aged 13-18. Founded in 1865, Malvern is set in a beautiful 250-acre campus, which offers first-class facilities to its pupils.

Malvern College has strong links with Worcestershire CCC, with many of their cricket scholars involved with either the Worcestershire Academy Programme or Emerging Players Programmes.

The team training camp will comprise fifteen (15) players all of whom will be spending their time completing numerous training sessions each day, accompanied by three (3) coaching staff.

Grass net practice, both bowling and batting, strength and conditioning work, fielding drills, running, speed and agility work will take place at the Cricket Academy. The culmination of the camp will see Malvern College Cricket Club play against St. John’s Cricket Club in a competitive T20 Match at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground on Tuesday 16th April.

Malvern College complete successful Pre-Season Training Camp at Desert Springs Cricket Academy

   

Malvern College Cricket players are now back in England having completed a successful four (4) days of warm weather pre-season cricket and fitness training between Monday 09th and Friday 13th April at Desert Springs Resort, Europe’s only international award-winning luxury family resort and championship desert golf course with its very own dedicated Cricket Ground and Academy, in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía in south-east Spain.

Malvern College Director of Cricket Noel Brett, with Malvern College Cricket Coach Richard Coughtrie and Sports Coach Liam Smith, accompanied Twenty-Two (22) players who completed bowling, batting and fielding practice as well as strength and conditioning training sessions and match simulations on the new cricket ground, as they stepped up their physical preparations for the upcoming 2018 season.

Malvern College Director of Cricket Noel Brett commented:

“We have had a fantastic time at Desert Springs and been looked after so well. The facilities are second to none and have been great for our cricket. We will definitely try and come back in the future.”

The squad also benefited from use of the new Cricket Ground at Desert Springs, incorporating specific practice sessions involving; throw downs, slip catch training and fielding exercises as well as match simulations.

“Awesome week! 10/10 cricket tour facilities, one of the best tours ever!”

Malvern College Cricket Academy set to visit Desert Springs for Pre-Season Cricket Training Camp

   

Between Monday 09th – Friday 13th April, Malvern College will be stepping up their preparations for their 2018 cricket campaign by attending a four (4) day pre-season training camp at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground & Academy.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore (OM 2009-2013) recently signed with Yorkshire CCC having been with Worcestershire CCC and Ben Twohig (OM 2011-2015) also signed professional terms with Worcestershire CCC.
