Title: Netherlands National Women's Cricket Team Compete Successful Pre-Tournament Training Camp at Desert Springs Resort

Fourteen (14) members of the Netherlands National Women’s Cricket Team, accompanied by Head Coach Shane Deltz, Assistant Coach Tim de Leede and national Physio and Strength & Conditioning Coach George Dunlop, have completed a successful three (3) day pre-tournament training camp at Desert Springs Resort, with its very own ICC accredited Cricket Ground and Academy, in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía in south-east Spain.

The purpose of the training camp was to allow the team to prepare for the upcoming European T20 World Cup Qualifiers, with the objective to achieve first place to entitle them to participate in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier in 2022.

Shane Deitz, Netherlands National Women's Team Head Coach remarked of Desert Springs Resort and the training camp;

 “My first time to Desert Springs and I had heard so much about it and it didn’t disappoint. On arrival everything was perfect, and the groundsman was also willing and open to do everything for us to allow us a great prep for our World Cup qualifier. As anyone knows who has taken teams on tour, food is so important to keep the players happy and the food was absolutely brilliant. All in all, we had a great time in the sun and we couldn’t replicate those conditions in the Netherlands, so Desert Springs is perfect and I can recommend it to all.”

A specific and carefully planned programme of numerous training sessions each day covering technical skills, fielding drills, bowling and batting, strength and conditioning and both individual and group activity took place at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground.

Netherland’s players said of their pre-season training experience at Desert Springs Resort:

“Desert Springs has great facilities and friendly staff. The food is amazing for every type of diet requirement, definitely my favourite place to prepare for a tournament.”
Heather Siegers Netherlands, Captain

“We had a great time in Desert Springs preparing for the ICC women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifiers. The ground and grass net facilities were amazing, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and “lekker” (as we would say in Dutch), and the accommodations were very nice. We loved our time at Desert Springs and we were very pleased to be there again”
Babette de Leede Netherlands, Vice Captain

“Nice cricket facilities for our tournament preparation, with apartments close to the ground. Staff was very helpful and provided us with 3 good meals every day.”
Miranda Veringmeier
