The aim of the NCU is to promote and improve cricket generally in Northern Ireland among men and women, boys and girls, the able-bodied and the disabled; this trip funded partly by the Erasmus Scheme, enabled the young players to live and work as a professional cricketer during their stay. The players spent their time in the Cricket Academy nets working on technical skills, bowling and batting, strength and conditioning and both individual and group activity.  Further to this friendly joint practise fixture with the Surrey CCC Girls Academy and Hampstead CC allowed for skill to be challenged in match scenarios.

NCU players, David, Felix, Marko and Jack, who stayed in one of our 2-bed apartments in the Las Sierras community summed up the trip;

“Lovely staff, nice facilities, great food, Lovely Cricket facilities and a really nice apartment.”

NCU Operations and Pathway Manager Callum Atkinson, commented;

“It has been an incredible, once in a lifetime trip for our players, we have been looked after brilliantly.  The is nothing we would change about our trip!”

The players and coaches were accommodated in some of the privately-owned Apartments at Desert Springs and the resort’s executive chef catered for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the Crocodile Club Restaurant.
