	Title:	Radley College complete pre-season cricket training camp at Desert Springs Resort

With the domestic cricket season now in full swing, Radley College have now returned to the UK after completing a successful four (4) day cricket training camp at Desert Springs Resort, Europe’s only international award-winning luxury family resort and championship desert golf course with its very own dedicated Cricket Ground and Academy, in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía in south-east Spain.

Between Wednesday 17^th – Sunday 21^st April, Radley College Head of Cricket Simon Dalrylmple and Coach Andy Wagner, accompanied fifteen (15) players, aged between 15-18 years, who completed a carefully planned training programme that comprised grass net practice, both bowling and batting, strength and conditioning work, running, speed, fielding and agility work at the Cricket Academy.

Additionally, the players had the opportunity to put their practice into play when they competed in a quadrangular T20 Tournament against Bedford School and Shiplake and Winchester College at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground on Thursday 18^th, Friday 19^th and Saturday 20^th April, as they stepped up their physical preparations for the 2019 season.

Radley College Head of Cricket Simon Dalrymple commented:

“This has been our second visit to Desert Springs and the first time with the new oval in place. It makes for a perfect location for pre-season trips. The boys love the quality of the accommodation and the food, so being able to guarantee 3 fixtures before the season starts was invaluable. Staff and grounds staff can’t do enough to help make sure that you get the best out of your time here.”

“Great facilities and space for cricket with both the oval and training ground. The apartments were very pleasant with plenty of space. The food on offer every evening was really good. A brilliant place to play good cricket and have some fun.”

Accommodation for the players and coaches was in some of the privately-owned apartments at Desert Springs Resort normally reserved for holidays and short breaks and the resort’s executive chef was on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the resort’s Crocodile Club and El Torrente Restaurant.

Between Wednesday 17^th – Sunday 21^st April, Radley College Cricket Club will be stepping up their preparations for the 2019 cricket season by attending a four (4) day training camp at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground & Academy.

Radley College is a boys’ independent boarding school near Radley, Oxfordshire, England, which was founded in 1847.The college covers 800 acres (3.2 km²) including playing fields, a golf course, lake and farmland and is one of four boys-only, boarding-only independent senior schools in the United Kingdom.

The team training camp will comprise fifteen (15) players all of whom will be spending their time completing numerous training sessions each day, accompanied by two (2) coaching staff.

Grass net practice, both bowling and batting, strength and conditioning work, running, speed, fielding and agility work will take place at the Cricket Academy. The culmination of the camp will see Radley College compete in a quadrangular T20 Tournament against Bedford School and both Shiplake and Winchester College at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground on Thursday 18^th, Friday 19^th and Saturday 20^th April.

Radley College Cricket academy players are now back in England having completed a successful four (4) days of warm weather pre-season cricket and fitness training between Monday 10th – Friday 14th April at Desert Springs Resort, Europe’s only international award-winning luxury family resort and championship desert golf course with its very own dedicated Cricket Academy, in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía in south-east Spain.

 

Radley College Master in Charge of Cricket Simon Dalrymple and Cricket Professional Andrew Wagner, accompanied fourteen (14) players who completed bowling, batting and fielding practice as well as strength and conditioning training sessions, and competitive matches against fellow visiting groups such as Winchester College, as they stepped up their physical preparations for the 2017 season.

“This was our first trip to Desert Springs Resort and we have been really pleasantly surprised with the quality of the experience.

Radley College, a boys' independent boarding school founded in 1847, located near Radley, Oxfordshire, England and Winchester College, an independent boarding school for boys’ that claims the longest unbroken history of any school in England, having existed in its present location in Winchester, Hampshire, England for over 600 years, will be following in the auspicious footsteps of Lancashire CCC & Somerset CCC by stepping up their preparations for their 2017 cricket campaign by attending a four (4) day pre-season training camp at the Desert Springs Cricket Academy between Monday 10th – Friday 14^th April 2017.

 

The Radley and Winchester College team training camp will comprise fourteen (14) players and two (2) staff respectively, all of whom will be spending their time completing numerous training sessions each day, which will include grass net practice, both bowling and batting, strength work, running, speed and agility work. As they will be outside and on grass, the squad will also be able to complete fielding and throwing practice in realistic conditions, as well as compete against one another on the cricket pitch, something not possible indoors back in the UK.
