SE Stars to Desert Springs Resort

The SE Stars Squad will be completing a six (6) day warm weather pre-season training and match play camp at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground and Academy between Thursday 23rd  – Tuesday 8th March 2023.

The Sunrisers squad will comprise sixteen (17) players and six (7) coaches and staff, all of whom will be spending their time completing a specific and carefully planned programme of numerous training sessions each day covering technical skills, bowling and batting, strength and conditioning and both individual and group activity.

During their stay Sunrisers will undertake grass net practice which will take place at the Cricket Academy; two 50 over matches and two T20 fixtures with Northern Diamonds and Sunrisers on the ICC accredited match ground at Desert Springs Resort; as always spectators are more than welcome to take in the action.

Match Schedule:

Friday 24th March

  • Match 1: Diamonds v SE Stars (T20) – 14:30hrs

Saturday 25th March

  • Match 2: Sunrisers v SE Stars (50 Over) – 10:30hrs

Sunday 26th  March

  • Match 3: Sunrisers v Diamonds (50 Over) – 10:30hrs

Monday 27th March

  • Match 4: SE Stars v Diamonds (50 Over) – 10:30 hrs

Tuesday 28th March

  • Match 5: SE Stars v Sunrisers (T20) – 10:30 hrs

The players and coaches will be accommodated in some of the privately-owned Apartments and townhouses at Desert Springs and the resort’s executive chef will be on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the Crocodile Club Restaurant.

South East Stars CC complete pre-season training camp

South East Stars CC are now back in the UK having completed a five (5) day pre-season training camp comprising fifteen (15) players and six (6) coaching staff at Desert Springs ICC accredited Cricket Ground & Academy between Monday 11th– Saturday 16th April.

As part of their preparation, the team spent their time completing a specific and carefully planned programme of numerous training sessions covering technical skills, bowling and batting, strength and conditioning and both individual and group activity.

Grass net practice, took place at the Cricket Academy. Strength and conditioning work, running, speed and agility work was completed at the Cricket Ground and Gym at the Sierras Sports Club.

The training camp culminated with South East Stars CC competing in three T20 matches against Western Storm CC, at the Desert Springs ICC accredited cricket ground.

 

Johann Myburgh, Head Coach of South East Stars CC remarked;

“It’s been really good, the girls have found the time very valuable to prepare for the season, it’s a great place to come out and work hard and train.

To end up playing games on a pitch like this is really good with fantastic facilities in terms of the outfield and surface we played on made for really good cricket.”

Title: South East Stars Women's Cricket to attend Training Camp at Desert Springs

The South East Stars Women’s cricket team will be stepping up their preparations for the 2022 campaign with a five (5) day Training camp at Desert Springs ICC accredited Cricket Ground & Academy between Monday 11th- Saturday 16th April.

Fifteen (15) players and six (6) coaching staff will be involved in a mixture of high performance training, spending their time completing a specific and carefully planned programme of numerous training sessions each day covering technical skills, bowling and batting, strength and conditioning and both individual and group activity.

Grass net practice will take place at the Cricket Academy. Match simulations, strength and conditioning work, running, speed and agility work will be completed at the Cricket Ground and Gym at the Sierras Sports Club.

South East Stars is one of eight Regions across the country as part of the ECB’s plan to transform women and girls’ cricket, released in October 2019.

The South East Stars work in partnership with Kent Cricket and Surrey County Cricket Club.

In 2021, the South East Stars lifted the Charlotte Edwards Cup – the T20 competition for the eight regional sides, and they will begin their defense of the trophy named after the Kent & England legend at Beckenham against Western Storm in May.
