Light Dragoon Regiment Set to Visit Desert Springs

We are delighted to announce that the Light Dragoon Regiment of The British Army will be visiting Desert Springs Resort between Tuesday 26th July – Thursday 4th August to complete a Ten (10) day cricket tour at the ICC accredited Desert Springs Cricket Ground & Academy.

The Light Dragoons based at Catterick Garrison, known as “England’s Northern Cavalry”, are a Light Cavalry Regiment that specialise in reconnaissance. They were most recently deployed in Mali, Poland and Afghanistan.  The regiment also provided support to the residents of Whaley Bridge during the floods of 2019.  Thirteen (13) players and two (2) management staff will be involved in a mixture of high performance training, spending their time completing a specific and carefully planned programme of numerous training sessions each day covering technical skills, bowling and batting, strength and conditioning and both individual and group activity.

The Light Dragoons will also compete in five (5) fixtures during their visit to Desert Springs  against local Spanish cricket sides on the ICC Accredited Match Ground.

The players and coaches will be accommodated in some of the privately-owned Apartments at Desert Springs and the resort’s executive chef will be on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in The Crocodile Club restaurant.
