Madera Verde Cup

We are pleased to announce that it has now been confirmed that Desert Springs Golf Club will host the 2006 “Madera Verde” Conference and that new dates have now been agreed for the event.

Desert Springs was awarded the 2005 Spanish National  “Madera Verde” Prize for Environmental Responsibility out of no less than 60 other golf courses which had been considered for the award.   From the 7th to the 10th December, Desert Springs will be host to representatives of these 60 golf courses, together with invited guests from both The Royal Spanish Golf Federation (RFEG) and the Spanish Ministry of the Environment’s Association for the Promotion of Socio-Cultural Activities (APAS).

During the conference, Desert Springs Golf Course Superintendent, Anthony Brooks and Chief Naturalist, Joel Lodè have been invited to lead seminars, sharing their knowledge and experience of management of the golf course and care of the environment in the harsh desert climate.

Conference participants will also compete for the “Madera Verde Cup”, an 18-hole Texas Scramble competition, to be played on the Indiana course at Desert Springs, on Saturday 9th December, with an expected field of 72 players.  Accordingly, tee times for the competition have been reserved from 08.00hrs until 14.00hrs, with a shotgun start at 09.00hrs.

We hope, by this Newsflash, to you give you ample time to plan your trips and tee times at Desert Springs, taking into account  this very important day for the Resort, its members and property owners.
