Mark Lawson Cricket Academy complete cricket training camp at Desert Springs Resort

Mark Lawson Cricket Academy have now returned to the UK after completing a successful four (4) day cricket training camp at Desert Springs Resort, Europe’s only international award-winning luxury family resort and championship desert golf course with its very own dedicated Cricket Ground and Academy, in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía in south-east Spain.

Between Thursday 24th – Monday 28th October, Mark Lawson, Head Coach and Louie Hurley, Academy Coach, accompanied nine (9) players, aged between 12-15 years, who completed a carefully planned training programme that comprised grass net practice, both bowling and batting at the Academy, along with running, speed, fielding, agility sessions and match simulations, that took place at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground.

Mark Lawson commented:

“This is now my fifth (5th) visit to Desert Springs since 2012 and the cricket facilities have improved on each occasion. They are as good as any I have experienced around the world and I am looking forward to coming back again!”

Louie Hurley, Academy Coach remarked:

“What an amazing trip!

First class facilities giving the young lads an insight to what professional cricket is like. It also gives them the motivation to aspire to become a professional. The food is great, and it helps players to perform during the day and sustain them through the evening.

I would definitely return to Desert Springs as a player or coach and I hope that you welcome back the Mark Lawson Cricket Academy in the years to come.”

Mark Lawson Academy players said of their training experience at Desert Springs Resort:

“I really enjoyed my time at Desert Springs and the facilities were world class.”

Alexander Nole, aged 11 years.

“My first time at Desert Springs and it has been out of this world! The pitches that your ground staff prepared for us have been unreal. I’m not surprised international teams come to Desert Springs. Thank you for an amazing time.”

Joshua Hen-Boisen, aged 13 years.

“I really enjoyed my first time at Desert Springs. The food and facilities were great and helped me improve my skills. I can’t wait to come back”
