Ockbrook & Borrowash CC complete pre-season training camp at Desert Springs Resort

With the domestic cricket season now in full swing, Ockbrook & Borrowash CC (OBCC) have now returned to the UK after completing a successful three (3) day training camp at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground & Academy.

Between Sunday 14th – Wednesday 17th April, Andy Brown (OBCC Head Coach) and David Hallack (OBCC Assistant Coach), accompanied twenty-one (21) players who completed bowling, batting and fielding practice as well as strength and conditioning training sessions at Desert Springs Resort, Europe’s only international award-winning luxury family resort and championship desert golf course with its very own dedicated Cricket Ground and Academy, in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía in south-east Spain.

OBCC Head Coach Andy Brown commented:

This trip gave us a great boost just before our season starts. The timing was excellent and the brilliant grass facilities allowed us to give everyone concerned invaluable time batting, bowling and fielding on grass.

The ambience of Desert Springs was lovely and everybody in the party enjoyed the high standard of the accommodation and catering.

We are looking to come again next year as everything exceeded our expectations. Thanks to everyone at Desert Springs who helped us during the trip!”

The training camp worked on a specific and carefully planned programme using the academy facilities and training on the cricket ground, covering technical skills, strength and conditioning and both individual and group activity.

OBCC players said of their pre-season training experience at Desert Springs Resort:

“International standard facilities, nice weather and lovely surroundings.

Food in the restaurant is excellent and cooked really well.

Living conditions are very comfortable and cosy. Friendly staff who speak good English.”

Harry Bennett

“Incredible facilities and friendly and helpful staff at all times. Restaurant had very good food and the service was quick. Really good rooms which were top class!”

Luke Baddely

“The hospitality is a credit to the resort. The staff were nothing but friendly and accommodating. From a cricketing point of view the nets facilities were top draw. Being able to use the middle on the match ground was a privilege, especially on such a lovely ground. It was an incredible trip and I would definitely recommend it. Many thanks!”
