Schools Golf Tournament

Desert Springs will be host to the inaugural ‘Desert Springs & Millfield European Schools Team Championships’ between Wednesday 24th to Sunday 28th October 2012.

The Team Championships is open to boys and girls of all ages with a maximum handicap of 24 and will be held over 3 days (54 Holes). The tournament format is 4 Ball-Better-Ball Stableford Points on day 1 & 2 with day 3 being Best Gross Score from each Team combined to achieve the Teams Stableford score.

Since 2009 Desert Springs Resort and Golf Club has been the official Spanish Home for the Millfield School Golf Academy.

Karen Nichols, Millfield School Director of Golf, commented:

“The overall quality of the Desert Springs Resort and specifically those standards provided on both the Indiana Course and Golf Academy, have been a key factor in the success of the Training Camps held by Millfield School. Millfield are pleased to partner Desert Springs in the hosting of the inaugural European Schools Team Championships. We feel it´s an opportunity to give all schools the chance to play a challenging golf course under tournament conditions. It gives all those taking part an opportunity to make new friends and widens Schools golf.”

Simon Coaker, Desert Springs Director of Golf, remarked:

“Desert Springs has become renowned for successfully hosting warm winter weather golf training for national and county union golf teams, as well as club and school teams, from the UK and Europe. We are particularly proud of our relationship with Millfield School and it seemed a natural progression to introduce this event which will provide the opportunity for schools from within Europe to come together at one meeting point and compete against other schools in a friendly atmosphere, some of whom they would not normally compete against.”
