Between Wednesday 30th October – Sunday 3rd November, Desert Springs will be host to ‘The Root Academy Festival’, providing U’15 cricketers with the chance to experience top level coaching using the first-class facilities at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground & Academy.

The Root Academy, founded in 2018 by the Root family, is a not for profit organisation that works through and with a series of ‘Hub’ organisations to stimulate and support growth in cricket interest.

The training camp will comprise players from; The Cornish Cricket Company, Piri PIri Cricket, Yorkshire Pro Coach and Tom Flowers Coaching, all of whom will spend their time completing numerous training sessions each day accompanied by coaching staff, including sessions on tactics and sport psychology.

Grass net practice, both bowling and batting will take place at the Cricket Academy. Strength and conditioning work, running, speed and agility work will be completed at the Cricket Ground and Gym at the Sierras Sports Club, with T20 Matches being played at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground.

Accommodation for the players and coaches is in some of the privately-owned apartments at Desert Springs Resort normally reserved for holidays and short breaks and the resort’s executive chef will be on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the resort’s El Torrente Restaurant.
