Winning Report

The Winners of the New Year Texas Scramble have just returned from a 4 day stay including and 2 rounds of golf at the Desert Spring Golf Resort in Almeria, Spain.

Having arrived in the dark at the resort on Friday evening we were all intrigued to know what we would see when we woke up in the morning and what a beautiful site it was!   Sunshine with mountains in the background, a courtyard with apartments all round with a small swimming pool.

The apartment was first class with two double bedrooms, ensuite bathrooms with every facility to a marvellous fitted kitchen, tea, coffee etc left for us.  We made our way to the restaurant where we were made very welcome. There we ate a hearty breakfast, which set us up for the day.

Our tee time was not until 2pm, so it gave us time to relax & enjoy the surroundings, even hitting a few practice balls prior to the game for which we were given 2 buggies.  Unfortunately my game did not improve, but the weather made up for it and we played in short sleeved shirts & shorts, despite it being the depths of winter!

What a challenge the course was, it was not called the Indiana course for nothing.  Go off the fairway & you were met with huge cacti, rough terrain, and large rocks- like being in the desert.  If that was not enough, there was water & out of bounds to contend with as well.

I would urge you if you were planning a golfing trip to Spain to consider visiting Desert Springs Resort.  You will not be disappointed!
