A field of torty-fiv2 (44) players, comprised of thirty (30) menbers and fourteen (14) guest gathered to compite for the New Year´s Stableford.

NEW YEAR´S MIXED PAIRS STABLEFORD

A field of Twenty four (24)  players comprised of twenty two (22) members and two (2) visitors gathered to compete for the New Year´s Mixed Pairs Open. The format of the tournament is a better ball stableford.

After eighteen holes of playing, and with a score of 47 points, Martin & Nicky Vanstone were proclaimed winners. In second place, Jim & Linda Kendall with a total of 42 points.

In the nearest to the pin competition, Mr. Pablo Perez was the winner on Hole 8th.

THE CONSTITUTION CUP

A field of nine-teen (19) players comprising eleven (11) members and eight (8) guests competed over 18-holes to contest The Constitution Cup.

The tournament format was individual Medal Play.

Sturat Minton claimed overall victory in the Men’s category with a gross score of 78 whilst Jaki White claimed overall victory within the ladies’ category with a gross score of 105.

Within the Members category second prize was awarded to Andrew James Markham with a gross score of 83, whilst in the Ladies category second price remained deserted.

Within the Guests category first prize was awarded to Emilio Menguez Montero  with a gross score of 89, second to Jorge Carretero Santos with a score of 92.

DESERT SPRINGS SENIOR GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

On a beautiful day with clear skies, a field of thirteen (13) players comprise of nine (9) members and four (4) visitors gathered to compete for the 1st edition of the Desert Springs Open Senior Golf Championship with a golf course in spectacular conditions.

The format of the tournament was individual stableford and these were the results:

THE CLUB HANDICAP SALVER

A field of thirty-three (33) players comprise by twenty-nine (29) members and four (4) guests competed over 36-holes to contest The Club Handicap Salver.

Perfect weather and course condition welcomed the players for both tournament days.

Phillip Webster claimed first place in the Men’s category with scores of 70 & 76 (146).

Patricia Deraedt claimed first place in the ladies’ category with scores of 66 & 73 (139)

Within Category One (0-14.6) first place was awarded to Chris Mear with scores of 71 & 77 (148) followed by Steven Gray in second place with scores of 77 & 76 (153)

Within Category Two (14.7-24,4) first place was awarded to Nicola Mckemmie-Watson with scores of 76 & 68 (144) and second place went to Francisco Martos Molina with scores of 82 & 68  (150).

Within the Guests Category first prize was awarded to Jim Halpènny with scores of 76 & 74 (150).

CAPTAIN´S CHARITY DAY

The Captain´s Charity Day was the tournament highlight of the year so far.

A field of seventy-six (76) players representing nineteen (19) teams competed in an 18-Hole Texas Scramble event on the Indiana course on a glorious October's day in the sunshine!

The day, whilst fun, was certainly competitive!

On the first competition of the day before playing, the nearest the rope on hole number 1 was won by Alison Blak

The team of Phillip and Shona Lockyer & Stuart and Jane Harman were crowned overall winners with score of 49. David and Janet Methwson & Judith Elaine and Martin Mclellan awarded second place with the socre of 50 followed in third place by the team of Phillip Webster, Elizabeth Margaret Bielby, Sue Garrod and Anthony Mason on a count back.

A wonderful evening for all awaited at El Torrente restaurant with a dinner followed by dancing with more opportunities to assist in the raising of those much-needed funds for the Captain's Charities including the Asprodalba, a charity for young mentally handicapped people in the area around Desert Springs who desperately need our help.

Wonderful to see such support !

 

 

 


 

DESERT CLASSIC

A field of thirty-five (35) players comprise by tirhty-three (33) members and two (2) guest gathered to compete over 36 holes for the Desert Clasic.

A perfect weather and the course in excellent conditions, welcomed the players.

The over all winner was Mike Thorpe after posting rounds of 40 & 34 stableford points, amassing a two-day total of 74 points.

On a fantastic summers day, eight (8) players comprising seven (7) members and one (1) guest competed over 18-holes on the Indiana course in the challenging 3 clubs & a putter tournament.

After a tie for the win, with a score of 33 points, Keith Berry was declared the winner on count back, over Stuart Minton who finished in second place.

Congratulations to both of them for a great round of golf and thank you to all of the participants!

 

 

 


 

JUNE STABLEFORD

On a beautiful day a field of eighteen (18) competitors, comprising seventeen (17) members and one (1) guests competed over 18-holes to contest the June Stableford Tournament.

THE ECLECTIC

On two glorious days ( May 28th & 29th ) The Indiana Golf course at Desert Springs was witness of the Eclectic competition for 2022.

The players best score on each hole over the two rounds was to be their Eclectic Medal score.
If a player could not beat their Day One score on any hole, they had to pick up on Day Two.

In the Members category, first prize honours were awarded to Keith Josehp Berry with an eclectic score of 59, second place for Jaki White with a total score of 63 and in third place Pedro Jose Castillo Resina with 64.

A field of thirty-six (36) competitors comprising thirty (30) members and six (6) guests gathered to compete for the Spring Pairs tournament.

The tournament format was Pairs Better Ball Stableford, played over 18-holes on the Indiana course, with pairs permitted to made up of either two (2) Men, two (2) Ladies or Mixed.

The event was a closely fought contest with the overall winning pair being Richard Dunphy and Elaine Gray with 38 stableford points.

In second place on C/B was the pairing of Paul & Lynne Taylor with 38 stableford points followed in third place, again on C/B the pairing of Thomas & Alicia Cook with 38 stableford points.

The prize for the best guest score was awarded to the pairing of Mark & Lee Danson with 42 stableford points.

On a glorious day with the course in excellent condition, fifty (50) players comprised of forty-one (41) members and nine (9) guests gathered to compete for the St. Patrick’s Day Bowl, a tournament that was postponed from earlier this year.

The tournament format was individual stableford.

Peter Hoyle was proclaimed champion with an impressive score of 42 points.

On a truly spectacular day, a large group of fifty-three (53) members and nineteen (19) guests gathered to celebrate the Easter Cup on the Indiana Course.

With a course in fantastic conditions the absolute winner was Ms. Elaine Gray.

In the first category these were the results:

  • In third place has finished Mr. Jim Kendall.
  • Second place went to Mr. Richard Toll.
  • And the winner of the category was Mr. Regan Botham.

In second category these have been the results:

  • Third place went to Ms. Jaki White.
  • Second place went to Ms. Niky Vanstone.
  • And the winner of the category was Ms. Patricia Deraedt.

In the guest category:

  • Third place to Ms. Nicola Iles.
  • Second place to Ms. Mandy Hambridge.

THE CAPTAIN´S DRIVE IN 2022

On a glorious day with a little wind, eighty-eight (88) players comprised of sixty (60) members and twenty-eight (28) guests gathered to support Paul Taylor for his Captain’s Drive-In.

At 08.30hrs. all gathered at the Cave Bar for Coffee, Cava, Pastries, Mulligans and to purchase the Captain’s ‘Drive Flags’ for positing on the 1st fairway.

At 09:15hrs. the Club Captain struck his drive…….. and then his second drive……. to applause from the supporting spectators!

The tournament format was a ‘Team Shambles’ with teams of 4 players.

After 18 holes of competition golf and with three evenly matched cards at 97 points, the winning team was formed by:

THE INDIANA MASTERS APRIL, 9TH 2022

A field of thirty-three (33) members and three (3) guests came together to compete for the Indiana Master’s Tournament, held over two days of competition on the Indiana course in glorious weather.

Second: Chris Mear 69 pts.

Third: Liz Shutlar 68 pts.

 

Category Two:

1st: Patricia Deraedt 66 pts.

2nd: Martin Vanstone 65 pts.

3rd: Jaki White 60 pts.

 

The prize for the best guest score was won by Valentin Montes with 61 pts.

The special prize for the best second round score of the tournament was won by Peter Hoyle with a score of 33 pts.

DESERT SPRINGS STABLEFORD CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP  APRIL 2ND  2022

A field of nineteen (19) players competed over 18-holes to contest the Club Championship Stableford.

Philip Angus was declared the overall winner with a score of 35 stableford points.

Barry White was runner up with 33 Stableford points followed in third place by Liam Mckinnes with a total of 31 stableford points.

The guest winner was Jim Halpenny with a total of 35 stableford points.

THE WALTZ TOURNAMENT

A field of twenty-seven (27) players, comprise of twenty-six (26) members and one (1) guest gathered to compete for the Desert Springs Waltz Tournament on a glorious day with the Indiana Golf course in excellent conditions. The format of the event was a team stableford.

After eighteen hole of competition these were the final results:

In first place, with a score of 79 points the team of Paul Taylor, Lynne Taylor and Pedro Jose Castillo Resina.

In second place with a score of 78 points finished the team of Chris Adams, Andrew James Markham and Patrick Landuyt.

The nearest to the pin competition was won by Wikke de Graff on the 14th Hole ¨Tiburon¨

DESERT SPRINGS GENTLEMEN CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP  1ST & 2ND APRIL 2022

On Friday, 1st and Saturday 2nd April, a field of seven (7) members competed for the Men’s Club Championship.

The event was played over 36-holes of stroke play format and played from the Championship tees of the Indiana Golf Course.

After 36 holes of competition play, Regan Botham was declared the Club Champion with a combined score of 159 strokes.

Charles McKinnes came in second place, with a combined score of 168 strokes.

 


 

DESERT SPRINGS LADIES CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP  1ST & 2ND APRIL 2022

A field of three (3) members competed over 36-holes stroke play to contest the Ladies Club Championship.

The overall winner was Ms. Liz Shutlar amassing a two-day total of 195 strokes.

Second place was awarded to Jaki White with a combined total of 210 strokes.

Congratulations to the Champions and thank you to all participants in this event.

 


 

MEMORIAL DAY TOURNAMENT

Today 26 players (25 members and 1 visitor) gathered at The Indiana Course at Desert Springs Resort for The Memorial Day Individual Stableford Tournament.

In the first category with handicaps from 0 to 17.6 the winner was Mr. Stuart Minton with a score of 39 points. In second position was Mr. Keith Joseph Berry with a score of 38 points and in third position Mr. Andrew Markham with a score of 37 points.

In the second category a range of handicaps from 17.7 to 36 the winner with 36 points was Mr. Pedro Jose Castillo, in second place was Mr. Philip Angus with a score of 36 points and in third place Mrs. Sue Garrod with a score of 34 points.

The prize for the closest ball on the 8th hole was won by Mrs. Sue Garrod.

The closest ball award on the 17th hole was won by Mr. Patrick Landuyt.

Mr. Stuart Minton is declared the overall winner of the Memorial Day tournament.

ANDALUCIA DAY: 28/02/2022

On a fantastic sunny day with little wind, 27 players (18 members and 9 visitors) gathered for the tournament in honour of the Andalusian Day with the Individual Scramble modality.

In the first category with handicaps from 0 to 15.7 the winner was Mr. Andrew James Markham with a score of 38 points. In second position was Mr. Stuart Minton with a score of 35 points.

In second category and after a tie between Mr. Barry White and Mr. Peter Hoyle at 40 points, Mr. Barry White was declared the winner with a handicap of 18.4 against 18.7. Mr. Barry White's result was 40 points.

In second position Mr Peter Hoyle with a score of 40 points.

The prize for the closest ball on the 8th hole was declared void as none of the players managed to hit the ball on the green.

The closest ball award on the 17th hole was won by Mr. Patrick Landuyt.

The overall winner of the Dia de Andalucia tournament was declared Mr. Barry White with a fantastic score of 40 points.

THE CARNIVAL TEXAS SCRAMBLE: 19/02/2022

An impressive field of forty-four (44) players representing eleven (11) teams competed over 18-holes on the Indiana course to contest The Carnival Texas Scramble.

The overall winners were the team of Ben Wainwright, Raimondas Balciunas, Igor Leontjev and Sandra Balciuniene who returned an excellent team total score of 53.7.

Following closely behind in second place were the team of Sarah Fry, Juan Francisco, John Fry and Jordi Caner returning a score of 55.8, with third place awarded to the team of David Garnett, Particia Clay, Chris Mear and Denise Mear with a score of 57.1

THE DESERT SPRINGS OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP: 05 & 06/02/2022

A field of twenty-seven (27) players comprising twenty (20) members and seven (7) guests competed over 36-holes on the Indiana course to contest the Desert Springs Open Championship.

The overall winner was Jordi Caner with a combined two-day total score of 72 stableford points (Round 1 - 36pts & Round 2 - 36pts).

Within Category One, Keith Berry claimed victory with a combined score of 70 stableford points with Angel Lopez claiming second place with 67 stableford points and Adam Minnett following in third place with 64 stableford points.

Within Category Two, Peter Hoyle was the victor with a combined score of 68 stableford points with Philip Lockyer in second place with 65 stableford points and Pedro Resina in third place with 63 stableford points.

THE PAST CAPTAIN’S CHALLENGE: 08/01/2022

Past Captain’s of Desert Springs Golf Club; Freddie Beames, Wikkie De Graaf, Patricia Deraedt, Richard Fuller, Phillip Lockyer, John Haydon & Philip Webster were represented by their teams to compete over 18 holes on the Indiana course in a Team Staleford competition.

A closely fought contest resulted in the team of Captain Philip Webster accompanied by David Hadden, Liz Shutlar, Gareth Jones, Linda Kendall & Paul Taylor returning an average score of 30.83 pts. to claim the 2022 title.

They were closely followed in second place with an average score of 30.42 pts. by the team of Past Captain Patricia Deraedt, supported by Georgina Roberts, Lynne Taylor, Wendy Walpole, Lils James, Gail McKemmie Watson & Nicola McKemmie-Watson.

Third position was awarded to the team of Past Captain Wikkie de Graaf supported by Robert Boersma, James Markham, Norah O’Cuilleanan, Francisco Molina & Pedro Hurtado returning a score of 29.50 pts.

Within the individual category, the Overall Winner was Roger Butters with a score of 39 stableford points, with second place awarded to Patricia Dereadt with 37 pts. followed in third place by Wikkie De Graaf with 36 pts.

THE EPIPHANY CHALLENGE: 06/01/2022

A field of thirty-eight (38) players comprising thirty-four (34) members and four (4) guests competed over 18-holes on the Indiana course to contest the Epiphany Challenge.

The overall winner was Martin Vanstone with an impressive 46 stableford points!

Within Members Category One, Roger Butters claimed victory with a score of 38 points with Dennis Stafford claiming second place on count back with 33 points over Gail McKemmie-Watson in third place.

Within Members Category Two, Philip Angus was the victor with 39 points with Norah O’Cuilleanan claiming second place on count back with 33 points over Nicola McKemmie-Watson in third place.

Within the Guests category first prize was awarded to Francisco Sanz Carmona with a score of 38 points.
